Well at least they didn’t get belted

Not sure how Natalie Wood can still have a job 6 losses in row a few drubbings and 1 goal games in that streak

Well fought out girls. Would still love to see better system. I think they are being let down by the coaching.

Pretty solid effort in the end.

Skills need work and so does the structure going forward, but nothing wrong with the endeavour. Holding Melbourne goalless in a quarter is a damn good effort this year.

Won the last 70 minutes of the game against a very good team. Their second-lowest score of the year.

Adams is a gun.

She’s fast moving into Amy Gaylor level favourite for me.

Bit mixed about this game.

Forwards pushing too high up the ground. Then not pushing back when needed.

I’m not sure what the gameplan is with Wales but I’m feeling she’s not being utilised enough.

Defenders really need to find an effort beyond the first. Also need to realise you can also punch the ball instead of trying to mark it.

Without being too crass we need to attack the ball on the ground a bit more recklessly to get the sloppy free kick awarded to us. Also when needed we need to make opposition want to think twice about standing under the ball for a mark. Bit too friendly at times.

In traffic we are hesitant cause there’s little predictability. Get caught HTB often from behind.

Holding the ball interpretation for the women is stupid.

Just name Alexander.

There are more than one.

  • My impression at the time was Prespakis had a particularly clean game and Nanscawen less so, but the stats clearly point otherwise. Of players (from both teams) with a significant number of disposals, Adams was the most efficient. She just burrows in, wins the ball, and gets it out tidily.
  • Nanscawen topped contested disposals, Prespakis uncontested (both for both teams). Not sure how you go from “uncontested” to “inefficient disposal”, and vice versa.
  • Bonnie unsurprisingly the biggest marker for either team… and half of them were deemed contested.
  • Nanscawen 12 tackles, 4 ahead of a trio of Dees, and then Adams on 7. She also led our clearances.
  • Call the contest between Wales and Pearce a draw.
  • Gay led our (anaemic) inside fifty count, and tied with Gaylor for rebound fifties. She also led us for metres gained with 421. We’ve missed her.
  • Clarke and Gay led our intercept possessions with 8 and 7, but Chaplin had 14 (!) for them.
  • Gee (97%) and Dyke (95%) went the longest without breaks. Brown went 50%, with Alexander switched back in the second half. Murphy increased her TOG to 47% but was still largely irrelevant. And WTF with Adams on 69%; she’s a winner. and she wasn’t playing as backup mid in this game.
