Treloar played arguably a career best season. He was unreal.
Merrett would have made it if he was in a decent team and not an obvious guy to tag out of the game.
Treloar has Bont and Libba and others allowing him to do his thing.

Waterman and Zorko shouldn’t have made it and Warner and Treloar were lucky, Zach should’ve been ahead of them. Even Gulden really didn’t have the best year.
His current career average is about 2 votes per every 3 games. It’s top 50 all time and equal with Scott Pendlebury.
He tends to poll exceptionally well.

Imagine if Merrett had some actual help around him? And some other decent leaders… this is not a blight on the selectors this is a blight on our playing list.

Merrett is super overrated by Essendon fans, he isn’t in the conversation of superstar players, goes missing a lot of the time when it’s needed and has a tendency of trying to tap balls on instead of taking the possession and dishing it out

I’m interested in the selection of Luke Ryan. I saw the Dockers play a few times this year and I thought defensively he was ■■■■■, including the loss to us in which he got rinsed by Stringer. He gets massive numbers because they constantly kick it sideways and backwards to him. He was #1 in the league for marks this year with 198, but only took nine contested marks in 23 games.
The guy is an elite-level stat padder, and the selectors have been duped by it.

Agree his own performance bar the Jordan tag Sydney game was to his usual high standard.
But the team being on the nose 100% is factored in.
