For most applications I would say three light coats is best. That way it cures a lot harder and lasts a long time. You won’t regret the extra coat and it’s not like you’re short on oil now

Do you have a marking gauge/marking knife? You can avoid a heap of tearout by first scoring your depth lines. If you’re worried about the line later it will sand out (eventually), but I prefer to leave mine in as a nod that I crafted this myself.

Anyone here used titebond melamine glue before? Recommended?

Forgot to mention, Titebond melamine is really good. Like normal woodglue strong.
