Andrew Gaff - RFA

I want guys like this at the club. Would love to see some blokes break opponents jaws

Have watched it again. Was pretty ordinary. Thought it was a little whack but Brayshaw is pretty farked up. Feel for the young lad.

It is called coward punch these days, but my understanding is it is a punch that takes you to the cleaners.

He clearly went for the chest but got him high

So do I. Would you like me to hold your coat while you take on Max Gawn. F+++ing Keyboard toughguys !

Which is why the AFL shouldn’t be fining clowns like Zac Jones who throw punches behind play at players heads regardless of the resulting injury.

It’s entirely preventable. It adds nothing to the game. Suspend the farkers for it.

How about the mulleted carnt Blake Hardwick throwing full on punches at one of our guys chest. Little disappointed that Smack or Hooker weren’t down there to get that chirpy little carnt to pull his head in.

I just assumed he was taking the ā– ā– ā– ā– .

However many weeks Gaff gets, I’m sure he’ll take it on the chin

I’ll show myself out now

I’ve read some bullshit on here in the last week, but this might take the cake. Anyone who endorses this behaviour must be completely lacking in any kind of half decent character traits.

I want guys who are hard at the ball. Not blokes who dish out cowardly hits on unsuspecting kids. I want a team of great footballers, not a bunch of faux tough guys who throw king hits around.

Thuggery doesn’t win you games of football anymore, and having your best players suspended for large chunks of the season certainly doesn’t help you win Premierships.

This was an ugly and pointless incident and anyone who wants this in their club or part of the game generally can GAGF. If this was one of our guys I’d be hoping the AFL threw the book at him

atleast 6 weeks. wtfff was he thinking!

It looked bad but the vision of Gaff face on looks like he’s trying to hit him below the shoulders. Unfortunate result.
I wonder if changes his mind whether he leaves WA or signs long term for letting the club down. Clearly got some time to think it over now.

Now it’s difficult to say what Gaff should do for the next stage of his career.

Would Jeff Horn be in his weight division?

More than welcome to hold my coat. Some you win, some you lose that’s the chance you take. I’ve had 2 broken jaws from footy hits off the ball but given out far worse. To this day I still regularly have a beer and a laugh with one of the blokes that got me. Was just part of the game

Not cheap at the dentist these days mate.

That may be so, but I would be mortified if an essendon player did something like that. If you break their jaw in a contest because you went lower or wanted it more, fair enough. But to break someone’s jaw 100m off the ball is a disgrace. How is what he did any tougher than what Devon Smith produces on a weekly basis?

How is what Gaff did any different from Zak Jones last week? Hitting blokes off the ball isn’t tough, it’s the opposite.

It’s only part of the game if you’re playing against an ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– . There’s nothing tough about hitting someone in the face and breaking their jaw. Completely different to contact in a tackle or shepherd and you are just unlucky enough to get contact in the wrong spot.
Having said that, I don’t think he actually meant it. He looked like he went to hit him on the chest or shoulder and stuffed it up. Was visibly shaken and remorseful, which I don’t think you would get from a Barry Hall type of bloke. Still deserves 6 or 7 weeks.

Was it this year or last year the league said they wanted to get rid of jumper punches? They could do it right here with this decision. 8+ weeks.

There’s probably a dozen punches thrown a game that could end this way. Zac Merrett almost copped one on Saturday. It’s so pointless and stupid. Not to mention dangerous, as seen here.
