Andrew Thorburn X CEO

Thank you Sky News

Capable of what? He ran a dodgy bank and his assistant swindled truckloads of cash.

He’s a grub and Barham and the board should go for trying to look past that.

Back when all our problems were John Worsfold’s fault.

Nothing to do with personal or religious beliefs.

Entirely to with heading two organisations with conflicting values.

Easily Googled and probably known by whom ever made the appointment.

A stupid hire.

I’d just like to thank the EFC board for finally burying the Saga (Underneath a ■■■■ ton of continual ■■■■ ups).

WGAF, he’s gone, yesterdays news, a lot of wasted energy here. I don’t know why I keep checking this thread out. I might be addicted to drama…

Go here: What Should Christians Think About Abortion? - Tough Questions - City on a Hill

Scroll down to the embedded audio.

If you actually listen to the sermon, you will hear that it is not angry deranged rantings, but a careful and compassionate plea for the rights of the unborn. I wonder if if Dave Barham has actually listened to the whole sermon.

As a club we took a big flesh wound yesterday. Nothing terminal and we’ll get this CEO right. Barham is our man as leader though … I have no doubt.

But Barham and co made a ■■■■ decision. They rectified it and he’s gone now. And in catching up and in retrospect I’m glad he has. Not just for the misfit in values and style Thorburn seemed contrary to our club but for the bullshit detachment he represented to us as fans from every walk in life.

We’re a modern football club with an unbelievable fan base. We need a modern, honest but hard nosed CEO who knows how to balance commerce, marketing and football.

There’s got to be someone out there …
Feel like I’m trapped in a series of XFiles. Probably am

The lack of thought police are at it again.

He’s the chair of an organisation that tries to ram these beliefs into the minds of other people.

Fine, I’ll do it, I’ll be CEO. Won’t even ask for a wedge of cash either, that’s how committed to the club I am. I promise I’m only a 17% chance of the skeletons in my closet being outed.

Wow, this appointment.

Wow, this thread.

Woke up this morning to a text from a mate saying simply “Mate, your CEO, WTF??”

I hadn’t seen or heard any of the news that happened overnight here in the US so I just replied “Yep, its a boys club. We should not have hired someone with his history”. History - as in his failings as the CEO of NAB.

Then saw the EFC member email.

Then read this thread.

Ready to go back to bed now.

If thats the sermon that has caused all this then what an absolute overreaction.

Wow some people still don’t get it

And some are at the least reluctant to understand why.

If a CEO of a club goes on radio and essentially says you’ve got to respect the views of homophobes, even if you don’t agree with them, then sponsors aren’t going to like that.

For all the straw men it really is that simple.

So about this conflict of values.

Where is EFC’s stated policy of abortion?

How do we know it conflicts?

Do they support abortion up even up until 1 minute before birth?

Please show me the policy.

Values are not the same as policy. No club is going to have an abortion policy….

The views of this church are in contrast to Essendon promoting an inclusive culture.

What are EFC’s abortion values?

Give it up. Fight the good fight against available facts and easily understandable sets of circumstances with your hurt feelings on another day.

I’m voting to close this thread down.

I’m off to the less depressing Ukraine and trade threads.
