Andrew Thorburn X CEO

I blame cancel culture for the Royal commission into the banks.

Come on man, I was setting you up for the Homer Simpson answer when asked “who will police the police”

Not sure about most people comment, but you’re entirely entitled to have that view. You’re the other side of the debate.

Ideally there would have been none of this stuff to hold against the club as clearly the media will have a field day anything negative Essendon. But I still can separate the religious views from the person and their employment capability and successes. Some can’t.

I’m tapping out of this thread now. It’s going to get messy quick.

But they can be pressured to resign once appointed. The world is a very weird place. Mix that with religious views and the football microcosm and we’re all in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

What are his views?? Where can I see them??

They interwied 4 candidates if im not mistaken

“As soon as we learned this morning of the findings of the Royal Commission from 2019…”

I… I just cannot fathom this club. I feel numb and nonplussed at the utter incompetence . If hindsight says that we finally got the coach choice right, it’s probably by luck frankly.

It’s been a while since most of us can say “I feel proud of my club”.

I desperately want that back.

I mean it would be funny but you know, every time?

Maybe a Premier going public has more effect than Sheedy going public ?

mattyknights don’t bother. All the “cancel culture means I can’t express my opinion that I’m expressing right now” folks are here for the outrage, not the facts. It’s a shade off “they’ll take our jerbs and guns next”

He cancelled himself mate.

“the board made it clear that he could not continue the dual role of both the church’s chair and club CEO.”

So he chose Satan and all his hellish pixies with hot bottom pokers over us.

Reality bites.

Maybe there is another disgraced former banker from the Royal Commission who isn’t the head of a evangelicals church that we could approach?

You have to laugh, I reckon this person could do a hell of a lot better than the current crap that is happening out at Tullamarine. LOL

Dumb comment. Was Saad chairing the Victorian Muslim Association or whatever body overseas Islam in Victoria. No.

His personal beliefs are his. That is of no concern as they don’t place him in a conflicted position as CEO of Essendon. But if he is the public head of an organisation whose values conflict with the EFC then yes, he would not be an appropriate appointment in the same way Thorburn was not appropriate
