Andrew Welsh - back to the Wooosha times

I actually don’t know how to feel about it.

Clearly he knows a bit about stuff? But he’s not a HUGE voice around the footy world. We need someone like Eddie, who literally picked the pies off rock bottom and brought them back to where they are now.

Will Woosha do that for us? time will tell, but let’s see…

Back the bloke in I say

I can’t see a way this goes badly.

Zzzz

GC property developer - turned a small fortune off his dad into a very big fortune - who’s professionally linked to guys like Little and Horsburgh, via shared investments and serving on the same boards etc.

I have very little confidence he’ll make the right footy decisions. None of those guys ever did and the way he’s gotten in suggests he’s riding a push for “competitive” from the old boys. So I personally expect he’ll try and retain everyone.

At least he’s under 70 years old, which is a nice change.

Money talks.

EDIT: as for whether any of this was planned. It typically takes the club about 9 months to get draftees photos up. Welsh’s role was changed about 1 min after Barham’s resignation went public. Not a shock, presumably.

Signs off as Welshy… seems arrogant.

Yeah, that’s definitely a positive.

Poor Welshy. Is he in for the long haul? I mean the loooooooooong haul.

We will start the 2026 season with, not one A grade player. One mate says 2028, another, 2030. Not to be premier, that’s just to get into finals.

I agree, he is Essendon not an AFL.

About time!

No joke. I hope he starts using all of his property connections to bring players to the club. I don’t give two ■■■■■ if it’s illegal. Let’s start playing dirty.

I think he’ll struggle in a press conference or interview situation.

Our first look at him in this setting will be tonight with Mitch Cleary on the news.

Knows his way around chatgpt

Just hope he isnt pushing the boys club and their agenda. I would rather he help bring this club to the 21st century and make us a true top 4 club for decades to come.

He can’t be any worse than Dave! Also, as long as he makes good decisions and influences the right outcomes for the club internally and externally then that what most important.

He understands football, genuinely. I’m hopeful he will be alright.

I must admit, I wouldn’t in a million years have seen his post football career life playing out the way it has.

I just thought he was your average bogan from Westmeadows and nek minut you blink and he’s a fkg corporate and he’s wound up as Club President and a Property Tycoon.

It’s been quite the journey.

Good on him and I hope he goes well.

His dad was a millionaire developer too.

He’s just gone a step (or three) further.

I’ve always thought this too. But who do we have that’s high profile and corporate? The only ones i can think of are Peter Costello and Robert Thompson (CEO of newscorp in America). Dan Andrews too actually, but all those wouldn’t be very popular choices.

I bet he feels he owes Dodoro and Hird big favours.

Lol that’s Blitz bait for just about the entire forum

Honestly, the best thing he could do is just liquidate the club, subdivide the Hanger and send the members compensation for the years of pain and suffering.
