Positives for me. Setterfield really our best mid today mixing with big boys, still not good enough. misssed Durham would have been good in Smith or Holmes.

Also Zak Johnson. He is possibly the find of the season. I’ve been in his bandwagon from day one. but might put him on 25+ disposals for next week. He’s a good user and we now look for him and he’s taking kick ins for a third gamer crazy. Has pretty good composure too, players give him hospital balls and he turns them into 50/50.

Clarke got to play wing on Dempsey and on Jeremy cameron for a few minutes, he would have got a great learning experience even though not a great game.

Day wicks had a crack, it’s just the synchronicity isn’t there for him and other players, he’s likely expecting more of senior guys, but they are in self preservation mode and made some of his ambitious disposals get turned over.

Lual, got chewed up and spat out today, still ran hard, but a lot of running without purpose. Geez I hope Scott gives Davey the wing next week, Davey has better footy IQ and knows how to get involved i. the play better and when to go, hopefully he has a good VfL game tonight.

Blakiston massive task and was serviceable. would have liked to see him do a little ruck work.

May had a couple
of nice moments and better than Caddy but was a bit of starvation corner for the kid, showed a little.

it’s all learning . we can see who’s not up to it so I see that as a weird positive . I don’t blame our champion players that have made errors tonight , they are under enormous pressure to carry the players that have barely played and are also playing under enormous pressure against teams rhat are many levels above us. it’s ■■■■■■■ hard at the moment. they tried hard tonight under very difficult circumstances

How is this a surprising result?

What right have we to expect better this year, particularly against the likes of Geelong?

Our standards are so low this was expected.

But how many times do we accept those ■■■■■■■ turnovers for no reason in defence. Kills us. I expect better.

Bailey had a certain discount due to “issues”, but without having met Harley, knowing nothing of Harley, and only having seen footballing footage of Harley, I would be shocked, stunned and also flabbergasted if he did not share some of these “issues”.

Even on here, people were rubbishing Smith’s ability because he’s been MIA for 2 years.

yeah very hard to take that. I agree. I reckon we have them at least 10.first half goals from unforced errors.
it’s very difficult to try to get connection with more than half the team that is new to the level . this wasn’t how it was supposed to be this year . no other team has the injuries we have so this team is cobbled together . it’s very hard at the moment

The most cursed thing about Essendon is we can be an objectively terrible football team and somehow still be 10th on the ladder halfway through the season.

It’s the footy gods’ way of stopping us from drafting top end talent.

It’s the footy gods of showing that they don’t want our de-development coaches to stuff up the careers of the top end talent.
