ANZAC Day ticket information

just got off the phone with membership. they said we are allocated a certain amount of tickets for Anzac day and have enough to cover our members with away access

being the away team, tickets will not be released in levels of membership like home games so far this year, although members with away access will have first priority

Next Tuesday they go on sale?

Definitely the Monday. Monday is always the best day of the week to have off.

Actually westie, the day after Anzac Day is a PH in SA, so you’ll get the Monday off anyway

Has it always been a thing in Victoria that if ANZAC Day falls on the weekend that there is no Public Holiday on the Monday?

I live in Victoria, I should know. It’s just not something I’ve ever thought about.

Yep, if a PH falls on a weekend we always get the Monday off.
I’ve taken the Friday off too so with the money spent I hope we do get tickets

Not if it falls on a Saturday.

I think so.

I think it’s due to Cup Day, and or at one time also Show Day.

And now we have GF Friday as well.

Generally every state gets 10 PH a year, when A Day falls on a Weekday, we now have 11.

And if nothings changed since I last knew, you have/had the choice to take Either Cup Day OR Show day, but not both, …As I say, that may have changed.

Is that only for ANZAC Day?
When Christmas falls on Saturday like this year we get the Monday and Tuesday off

Yeah, NY Xmas and Boxing Day will always be a PH regardless when they fall.

I want a seat near the fence again so I can launch my half filled beer cup at the umpires when Pendles ducks into another tackle

no. It used to be a public holiday on the Monday if it fell on the weekend, but that was changed during the term of the Kennett government.

No, it wasn’t under Kennett, it was changed recently. The RSL lobbied it for change as we should only be celebrating it for the day, not the weekend.

We got the Monday off as recent as about 8 years ago, I know this because I got a parking ticket when ANZAC day fell on the Sunday and when I lodged a complaint, they said that the 25th (the sunday) wasn’t the public holiday, the Monday was.

Think it was changed about 4 or so years ago.

I’m hoping to get tix for myself and 6 other mates. And I’m a non member this year. Don’t like my luck, but being optimistic. Lol

Yeah, that’s right. And he used the whole Show Day & Cup Day thing as his reasoning in doing it IIRC.

nah, it was a lot longer ago.
