Development coach from 2019 through 2024, and then forwards coach from 24-26.
The results speak for themselves, I guess.

I can only hope that all of the people being offloaded is about accountability for results and not just other failures in key positions at the club protecting their own image.
Ummmm. Can someone tell him to give up player development? He’s no good. He said in the ‘last word’ video that “you gotta experience stuff to know stuff.” Imagine that level of development.
Not sure his forward coaching is much chop either, based on 2024-2026 output…

Thank the lord. Brad Scott brought in the worst bunch of assistants ever assembled- it’s as if he wanted the team to fail. Absolutely astounding from someone who was allegedly a smart football operator.
Edit: Roberts predated BS. The other North people he brought in were all duds.

Hopefully Stanton, Hurley, Mclean and Rath are on the chopping block next.
Need to do a full clean out.
As much as I love Hurley, he has been in a development role for a couple years now and it’s an area we have struggled with.

Roberts gone is only a good thing as will have a lot of fresh new assistants next year.

Bit rough to judge Hurley on our current backline, not like he has great pieces back there, plus he was thrown into the role mid year.
And its not so much a lifeline, depends if they are contracted…given the volume of movement already, they probably stay…as it may be akin to selecting development coaches in the fourth round in the rookie draft if we need to fill every single coaching role.
Also offers some continuity for the players.

I just can’t visualise the world where Gia hands in his resignation late last year, and it’s B Scott shoving Solly into his role.
Maybe that’s just me.

With Hurley I didn’t rate him as a one on one defender during his career, he had to be moved to a third tall post saga to account for the fact he couldn’t defend any key forwards. So I dunno if he is the right person to be teaching our young key defenders.
He also doesn’t come across that switched on in interviews. It’s not to Stanton levels of almost seeming drunk when interviewed though. In saying that at least Stanton had some experience outside of the Essendon bubble for a few years.
They need to bring guys from other successful clubs if the coaching department is going to be mostly old Essendon guys. If it’s Davis or Graham, it likely isn’t as bad if they stick around.

Solly was the first available Def coach after Gia left, and then Hurley was the next after that, so it’s not like it was a job he even applied for.
