Just watched it after reading your post.
Agree with pretty much all of your review.
Was a bit surprised at how it ended though.

random fact - Lawson is Wedge in Star Wars
More random. Peter Capaldi was the foul mouthed spin doctor in In The Thick of It, then Dr Who.
Haha, yes. I only realised it after looking him up once I’d watched Local Hero.
Misery - ‘90s
It’s classic Stephen King, as always, doesn’t do the book justice. But it ma still really quite good. Suspense, horror, thriller. Only got 14 cast, including a pig.
7.5/10
I’m sure they could remake this and make it way scarier.
Bio dome - 1996
Bizarrely it has Kylie Minogue in it.
Spoiler alert: it’s ■■■■

Are you doing a movie marathon?
Misery is a movie which they should never touch in any way shape or form. Its almost perfect, and nobody will ever be able to top Cathy Bates performance from the original, she absolutely crushes that movie.
I don’t do this often but I agree with Alex on this one.
This is my favourite Stephen King adaptation.
I think Misery is probably the best, but the Shining remains my favourite. Hate to use describe it this way, but the ‘vibe’ of that movie is perfect. Whether its an accurate adaptation or not, im not sure.
The Shining is a genius stand alone film, Misery is a wonderful adaptation of a great King story, made more exceptional for how few have come off. A couple of his short stories have been done well enough from memory but jeez they’ve done bad things with the big ones!
I liked it.
It is a funny movie in a goofy lampoon sort of way.
Pauly Shore
Stephen Baldwin
Joey Lauren Adams
Kylie
And they show how a trashed environment can be recovered…so it alittle educational too. And Kylie was pretty cute.
Isn’t Shawshank a Stephen King book?
Rita hayworth & the shawshank redemption.
Yes. A short story.
Of the King adaptations, I quite like The Dead Zone. Probably because of Brooke Adams mainly, but Christopher Walken is outstanding. The ending lets it down.
Edit. David Cronenberg directed. He knows what he’s doing
I like the previously mentioned Steven King movies but just wanted to add Stand by me.
He actually has quite a lot of quality adaptations when you think about it.
Also saw that Amazon Prime has Groundhog Day available to watch. Haven’t watched that since I was a kid, enjoyed it much more as an adult. Forgot how clever and funny that movie was. Also apart from a few scenes had almost completely forgotten most details. (one advantage of getting old) My 11 year old daughter watched it to the end with a few laughs, so just shows how well it still holds up.
Saw it was on Binge, I’ll have to give it another watch. Haven’t seen it for 10+ years at least.
I re-watched ‘Fargo’ last night for the first time since the 1990s.
It’s even better than I remembered. Oh ya, you betcha.
