At the movies - From the couch

I imagine Biff as a classic Carlton supporter.

If you are into some Cronenberg grossness, Crimes of the Future is on SBS tonight, and then SBS on Demand

I sailed the seven seas and found this.

Will watch later tonight looks good

School holidays, took my son and a few of his mates to the minecraft movie.

I know critics have slammed it, and they are right. It was not good. I had no idea what was going on and didn’t really like what I did understand. A couple of funny bits.

But I’m not the target audience. My son and his mates are and they loved it to a level that I have never seen kids love a movie before. Cheering, clapping, all the kids out of their seats absolutely beside themselves. The place was packed.

In this case, I don’t know ■■■■, and neither do film critics. Ask a 9 year old.

Yep…film critics rarely look at how the film would appeal to it’s target audience.

My lads are looking forward to it. I’m clearly not the target audience so will sit there and shut up.

I just enjoyed how much they enjoyed it tbh. It was great fun in that regard, watching their investment in it.

Minions had a similar phenomena

Yeah I saw minions with kids as well but this was next level.

They might have just whipped themselves into a frenzy in the session we went to in particular.

My kids absolutely loved it.

I thought it was ok for what it was, just a bit of mindless, crazy fun. And it was great asking them after to explain the world.

I’ve seen far worse grown up movies and have the critics actually even bothered to see or play the game.

It’s like every kids movie needs to be some critically acclaimed masterpiece.

A lot of the kids I teach will be all over Dog Man and Minecraft for sure. My 7.5 year old daughter cares for neither so no movies at the cinemas for us these holidays. Will probably re watch the same 5 or 6 regulars at some point. Moana2 on Disney has already had a re watch.

I read this is a mid credits scene and after credits scene

We watched the Goonies again on the weekend. There better not be a remake, you don’t ■■■■ around with classics.

STOP. DO NOT WATCH ANOTHER MOVIE UNTIL YOU WATCH….

Samurai Cop 1991

Some insane background in this.

  • $7,000 budget (it shows)
  • After filming stopped the lead actor cut his really long hair off, so when they needed to reshoot some scenes, they just gave him a wig (it’s doesn’t even match)

Worth reading some of the other behind the scenes idiocy, which will make you understand the final result of this once in a generation masterpiece. I don’t want to give anything else away, but this one is a hall of famer. And there’s 2 sequels!!’

Really enjoyed The Amateur. Wouldn’t call it an action movie, more like a thriller

Novocaine is really fun

Cool concept, good comedy and good action

Went to see A Working Man today.

A more polished Jason Statham action movie.

If you like his movies (and I do), then you will not be disappointed.

They made a remake, well a reboot. It is set in Hawaii. I watched it with the kids, it was better than ok. I think it was different enough to not make it painful.
