for mine villeneuve is one of the must see directors, even bladerunner
Saw it tonight. Good movie. Thought I had it all figured out a third of the way through, but I was wrong.
Good movie, but it’s the kind of movie you can only see once. Just too freaking depressing!
Watched The Merger on Netflix over the weekend. Enjoyable but far-fetched, at the end game wise, about a country footy team made up of locals and migrants. A quick flash at the table made me chuckle, bottom were the Muddy Flats Funnelwebs.
Sorry mate, started to reply to this and got pulled away then forgot .
That is surprising, as is the lack of mention of it here. I almost wrote “I doubt anyone could have a bad word about it” in the OP too …
A check on RT revealed 97% from critics, but much more importantly, a 91% pos rating from audiences, but it seems most of Blitz didn’t dig it at all??
I’m doing U/17 Country Week cricket for the week. Today is Wimmera/Mallee vs Horsham.
Guy from Wimmera/Mallee (northern Wimmera really) was telling me he’s in the early church scenes in The Dry together with his son…so I’ll have to check that out.
Some of the guys were saying that Pimpinio was the next town along (Kalkee?) and didn’t know @wimmera1, so I’ll just assume wim has been lying to us.
Just watched midnight sky with George Clooney ( he also directed it). How the hell does Clooney keep on convincing Hollywood to finance his movies?! Such a rubbish boring movie maker
He’s up there with Tom Hanks as incredibly overrated.
He’s made about 2-3 good films in his time.
I’m not even sure he has made 2 good films tbh. 3 kings was decent, I loved gravity but he was only in it for like 20min
The Ides of March
Up in the Air
Michael Clayton
Just films that he’s anchored on his own I would say Michael Clayton and thats about it.
Only seen a bit of up in the air and hated it
His movies are just dull, slow and boring
clooney, hanks, lawrence.
You just named Noonan’s dreamteam.
i reckon their talent is to pick a good script, i think pretty much any other a-lister in their role nails the movies.
also hanks voice is just too ■■■■■■■ annoying for anything but woody.
Wait, Noonan is joining us.
That’s OK…I regard you three in particular as being unworthy of consideration in any review of films, TV, football, well…anything.
Don’t take it personally though.
Sorry to interrupt your siesta
don’t group me with efcrobbo matey.
That movie was just depressing. I found the Netflix series with Hilary Swank “Away” a better space themed show.
On another note, can’t agree on the Tom Hanks feedback. I love him.
His 80’s comedies Big, The Burbs, 3/4 of Turner and Hooch.
The romantic comedies with Meg Ryan.
A league if their own is a favourite of mine.
Then you add those massive roles - Philadelphia, Saving Private Ryan, Castaway, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Captain Phillips. The last few minutes of Captain Phillips especially. The acting just blew me away.
tom hanks as army officer.
tom hanks as man stranded on island
tom hanks as disabled man
tom hanks as astronaut
tom hanks as boat captain
