I did see that one…back in the way back when. I did say ‘pretty much ever’.
One boxing film I enjoyed was The Set-Up that I got in a pack of noir movies. Starred Robert Ryan as a washed-up boxer, up for one last fight. His trainer has taken money for him to throw the fight. And I saw the Russell Crowe film The Cinderella Man and also Million Dollar Baby. I see most Eastwood movies.
Agree on the Robert Ryan film. He wa a great actor, but also, according to his bio, a great human being ( including in the context of the McCarthy era )
The Champ remake with John Voight was also good.
Cinderella man is great!
He seems a nice chap
How about Singing in the Rain in the musical genre
The Woman in Red
Surely that scene at the 28th minute when Gene Wilder is having a serious conversation with his wife about infidelity is one of funniest in motion picture history.
Wow.
Your response to Noonan was rather brief, but if I’m reading you correctly, you are as dismayed as I am.
Cut out 100% of the movie and you lose this incredible scene with James Brown, the No Easy Way Out montage, the Burning Heart montage, the Training Montage montage, the Hearts on Fire montage, in addition to Rocky ending the Cold War.
Alright look, I’m gonna shut up about Rocky IV now.
It really should be Blitzer @RockyIV
One of the best movies ever!
I knew you had good taste.
I just don’t watch films that should be sub-titled but aren’t. What language does Stallone speak?
Roidian

If only I had any respect at all for you guys’ views on cinema.
Can’t eat roast lamb every meal.
And some hot dogs are awesome.
Fixed.
Best movie about a boxer?
Pulp Fiction
I’m not as big a fan of the Dardenne brothers as some. I did like Two Days One Night.
If you like that one, you might like Four Months Three Weeks and Two Days, which is a Romanian film directed be Cristian Mungiu about a woman in Communist era Romania who helps her friend get an illegal abortion. Very powerful.
I’m generally with you on that sort of film. I did like the first Rocky and also the original Karate Kid. The only other Rocky I watched was the last one, and I only got about 10 minutes into that before I turned it off.
