Australian Policies -- 2026, and we have no Shadow Cabinet

Well, seeing as our Right Wing colleagues seem to have vacated the thread (again) after getting their question(s) answered…and then not answering the questions put to them…I’ll try and answer your question.

You see, if some poor, struggling billionaire gives you a plane, then you vote against anything that might cause previously mentioned billionaire to pay her workers a few extra dollars.

One Nation did not vote to block the minimum wage rise in Parliament because minimum wage changes are determined by the independent Fair Work Commission, not voted on by lawmakers.

There was no vote.

Hey Google…Has Pauline Hanson voted against wage rises?

AI Overview

Yes, Pauline Hanson has a consistent track record of opposing and voting against wage rises and improved working conditions.

While base minimum wage is set by the independent Fair Work Commission, Hanson has actively opposed calls for above-inflation minimum wage increases and has voted against several key pieces of industrial relations legislation in the Senate that would have protected or improved worker pay.

Her voting record includes:

  • Minimum Wage: Actively opposed economically sustainable, real-term pay increases for millions of minimum and award-wage workers, citing pressures on small businesses.

  • Industrial Relations: Voted against legislation designed to make it easier for casual workers to become permanent.

  • Gig Economy & Job Security: Voted against better rights and minimum standards for gig economy workers and transport workers.

  • Labour Hire Loopholes: Voted against closing the “same job, same pay” loopholes, which allow labour hire workers to be paid less than direct employees.

  • Wage Theft: Voted against laws to criminalise wage theft in Australia.

Ok so she’s said she doesn’t support the recent wage rises but she never voted against that a few days ago as someone posted above. There was no vote.

Her position I agree is completely nuts because she seems to be gaining support from lower income earners. Get use to trying to make sense of that nut job Pauline - what she says and does.

You are correct Bill, I apologise.

“The One Nation leader has signalled she would not support a real increase to the minimum wage when the independent Fair Work Commission hands down its annual decision on Tuesday.”

This party is fiercely anti-worker and would, if elected, remove any decent conditions and protections for the working class.

Given how easy it is to find the information I posted, what does that say about the people moving to ON?

Are they just too stupid to vote in their own best interests?

Are they too stupid, or lazy, to actually check this stuff?

yes

We are all going to scratch our heads over the next years because Pauline will provide us with a lot of weird and stupid backflips and policies. Please explain.

I agree at surface level it makes no sense whatsoever but reading that article I posted earlier it seems like some voters don’t care what she says and they just want to upend the current political parties/class. Politics is not working for them so they will/might try something different.

I think that’s true for some of them.

But there are others who are more concerned about others having less than they are about having more themselves.

And then there are smart racists.

I would never vote Greens just as much as I would never vote ON but i do hold the same views as her on many wage related issues

“Please explain”

“Politics isn’t working for me…I’ve seen what’s happened in America when they voted for a totally incompetent idiot…and I think I’ll do the same here”

That is just stupidity personified!

Not just America but Britain too. None of it is logical but politics seem to be changing globally and now in Australia. It’s becoming fragmented and polarised. The status quo is changing.

So is the reason women are leading the charge to one nation due to them being racist?

Look I’m not getting involved In any culture wars

Just the easiest of lines to take, pathetic excuse. The more you say it, the more you normalise it. Oh dear, politics isn’t working for me - like it always used to remember? - I wish there was an upstart party not beholden to wealthy donors and double speaking at every opportunity…oh, look, there’s one! Have my vote you plain spoken rebels.

Honestly, I read this hoping for a bit of genuine analysis from the ALP-aligned side, but I got nothing other than what I’ve got from fruitless back and forth in here over the past 6 months. He does a perfectly adequate job of explaining why voters are alienated with the major parties. Hell, I’m way ahead of them - I’ve been alienated from the major parties for over 20 years. He absolutely does not engage with why specifically those alienated voters are going to One Nation rather than supporting any other electoral option out there.

I can think of a bunch of reasons why he, as mostly a Labor guy, might not want to talk about it. Maybe he doesn’t want to call a spade a spade over the real issue that a chunk of Hanson’s support is and always has been based on racism and xenophobia. He’s aware that previously a lot of these we Labor voters and doesn’t want to risk permanently driving them away by offending them. Alternatively, he doesn’t want to pick a fight with Gina Rinehart or the right wing media, FTA TV especially, whove both been a massive part of the One Nation PR campaign in recent years but who the ALP doesn’t want to completely alienate. But yeah, in doing so the fact remains he only addresses half of the question. ‘Why not the majors?’ is easy. ‘Why One Nation?’ is hard.

Spoiler alert: it was cos of trans people. And in a sign of exactly how much he REALLY cared about Green politics, he went on that well-known bastion of environmental excellence in Sky News to talk about it.

Again with this question to people who have not and will not vote One Nation.
Second time today, and its intent is as obvious as it ever was.

Where is the question of One Nation voters why racism, and Hanson is undeniably racist, is not a deal-breaker for them?
There’s so many other questions you could ask. Such as why she’s fine with having a rapist in her party. Why she doesn’t take her very cushy job seriously at all.
Why are you okay with her being so anti-worker?

There is literally no point asking non-One Nation voters the answer to any of these questions.
We don’t know.
We don’t know how anyone could be so stupid.

Ask them.

In the case of those specific women, probably.

It may suprise you to learn though that women can be ■■■■■■■ morons as well, though admittedly less frequently than men.
