I would also settle for, as a starting point, “which of her policies is it that drew you to her”?
Is just because they don’t look forward?
They just look at what’s upset them in the past? I genuinely believe so
Even so… What’s she going to help them with?
Edit: or are you suggesting they are deep in their feelings stage and are not yet solution oriented, much in the manner of a small child who has just dropped their ice-cream?
Kinda. It’s almost the same.
Like, I don’t feel great about you, so cop this.
I have spent the best part of 57 years talking to people about voting and what drives their vote.
57 years ago footy was a very different game to what it is now. Australian Voter are not much different at all. Vast majority have no interest in politics and do not understand the effect it has on them. For example they do not know the responsibilities of Federal vs State vs Local Governments, and do not take the time to find out what affects them directly.
They believe that indigenous people and new immigrants get more than them and refuse to listen to the facts. It be easy to just call them uneducated racists but many are well educated and just want to hate.
Is there anyone here who doesn’t think Pauline Hanson is massively, incredibly, racist?
Anyone?
You’ve lost me there, swoods.
I could legitimately be considered an old man, but I don’t think anyone would categorise the ONP as a cloud.
The people you want to respond will not…they come in here and ask their questions expecting to be answered.
They get an answer (or more) and then disappear when they get asked questions.
That’s the context of my post.
I have to confess, I’m getting mighty sick of the endless loop of blame/whinging against the ALP that goes…
Help ‘ordinary Australians’ with cozzie livs, you out of touch bastards!
Not like that! That will increase inflation, you irresponsible bastards!
It’s extremely tiresome.
Edit: and if it helps cozzie livs and cannot possibly increase inflation, like the rego rebate and public transport changes, then it’s vote-buying.
I mean ffs…
I doubt anyone thinks she isn’t a racist
Then one in five people are fine with that, but very few will admit to that fact.
It’s…maddening.
‘Things haven’t gone the way we would like so we’re just going to fark ■■■■ up…’
I mean…that’s the entire argument.
And one that didn’t exist four years ago. Back when everything was going so great…
So we’re going to give this…obviously unqualified person a whole lot more power. In fact we’re…more than okay with her (and it is her…it’s not a party…it’s just support of this one person) somehow being the alternative government.
Who’s their potential treasurer?
I honestly don’t understand how the hell anyone can not take a moment to consider whether they’re being…breathtakingly irresponsible.
I think you’re missing the more relevant question(s) here Wim.
Rather than asking why people are turning to ON, a better question is:
why is she getting such positive press from the mainstream media?
This is classic Murdoch…have your media outlets endlessly put out warm and fuzzy pieces about Hanson so that the plebs can soak it up.
Just like he did in America with Trump.
The more he can turn the average people against each other, the more clicks he gets.
He is a cancerous turd who is well overdue to turn up his toes.
I know the Australian media is massively anti-left.
I know people are influenced by that.
I know there are people whose views are formed by Sky News, 3AW, The Hun, The Australian…
It’s not an excuse.
It’s not an excuse for a passably rational thinking person.
We’re experiencing difficult times, not least (as you say) due to a narcissistic, cult of personality, completely unqualified person who has surrounded himself with unqualified sycophants.
We need sensible, rational people to deal with that.
I don’t agree with Liberal policy, but goddamn…they must have some people who fit that description.
The ONP does not.
At all.
In any way.
Voting for them is…I mean I’m not a fan of the word cuck in politics, but goddamn…
You ONP cucks would rather sit in the chair and watch your country get farked than have sensible government.
I’d argue it’s “I don’t feel good about me”.
I know I’m emotional about this, but…
That Hanson, Roberts, Joyce…are within spitting distance of being the alternative government is the greatest danger to our country in my lifetime.
Edit: And if the Liberals do form a coalition, which…seems scarily possible…I have a bad feeling about who would be the leader.
ON won’t form government Wim but based on the numbers they will hold the balance of power in the senate and you better believe PH and her motley crew are going to use that power. It’s going to be a giant shiit show.
Increasingly it feels like that’s why they have gone from 6% to 31% primary vote in just over a year.
