and I don’t think that they Will ever win back many if any metro seats with policies that call renewables a scam and they intend to close down all subsidies for renewables and evs
as long as they keep chasing one nation crazy uncostable policy they have zero chance of ever getting back to being a real chance of government. they will need another loss to finally realise their fossil fuel insane policies are not going to cut it with most of the sensible voters

if he goes back to his old seat with the fossil fuel crap and populist anti renewable rubbish the liberals and one nation are on about, they will wipe the floor with him. if he’s smart he will wait for them to crash and burn then go back and he can start them again.

It’s not just melbourne.
Something like 60% of Australia lives in suburbia (rather than inner city, regional, or rural).
L/NP have about 6 or 7 of those seats nationwide.
This was little Johnny’s absolute hitting zone - absolutely gone now.
The fossil fuel policies are poison anywhere that doesn’t economically rely on a coal mine. Unkle Tone & Scott from ~Waverley~ Marketing’s conservative social policies rely on the 4 most unsettling people you’ve ever met in your town or suburb somehow forming a majority.
And ONP are beating them at the “gotcha” game.

what does surprise me is how many Australians still think they are a party they would vote for . there is always a cooked fringe like Maga that are attracted to racist populist trash like one nation , but I’m personally disappointed and shocked by how.maby traditional liberals have jumped across . this is the thing that really blows my mind .
sure I get that on partisan grounds they won’t switch to Labor , and maybe this explains the polls towards one nation but I’m still shocked at how many of the liberals are seemingly ok with one nation

Not saying everyone that voted ‘no’ at the last referendum were racist or one nation voters. But you can see how a simple message can be pretty effective, against something that appeared to be poorly explained.
I’ve never met anyone that says that’s vote one nation in Victoria. A bunch of guys I went to uni with on the GGC were big fans.

The centrist half of the L/NP are now teals. The party left them a long time ago.

there’s a decent percentage of people who think everything sucks and it should all be torn down
no doubt theres crossover with bigots, but the frustration is very easy to get your head around
however anyone who believes that one nation aren’t also career politicians bankrolled by rich people like the coalition and the alp… well then they’re stupid
