Australian Policies -- from October 2024

We agree to disagree. I think this government has been a very ordinary one, it will exit its term with Australians broadly in a less well off position than when they inherited it.

-Housing affordability is getting worse
-It has failed to tame near record immigration intake, causing unnecessary strain on housing and feeding inflation
-It broke energy cost reduction promises at last election
-It has created a ‘higher for longer’ underlying inflation problem that is keeping rates higher unnecessarily, inflicting unnecessary pain on many
-It botched it’s voice campaign, in doing so got distracted from what really matters to Australians, cost of living help
-It will miss its renewables targets and its mismanagement will ensure energy prices keep rising
-Its management of the economy has been really poor, Australians labour productively (standard of living) performing at the bottom of other major OECD countries.
-Australia has delivered a 7th consecutive Qtr of per capita recession
-It has presided over 12 consecutive interest rate increases, some of which domestically driven by economic mismanagement per above
-Social cohesion is broken, the govt has been weak in denouncing antisemitism and making Jews feel safe in this country.

On that basis, it’s been a really poor term of government and only the ALP supporters could argue it’s been a good term, with a wry smile I’m sure! The government is well and truly in the nose and possibly on the way out, Australians ready to send a clear message I’d say.

Well…not wrong so much as completely ignoring context at every turn.

Which is obviously wrong.

Just stop. The only social cohesion that’s broken is the excuse for a culture up in your bogan paradise after dark. If you can bear to patronise it after its woke chapter, have a shandy at your local generic and take another picture of a beach. Relax.

Pretty ■■■■■■■ ordinary that if your mum is seriously politically connected you can be a significant drug dealer and avoid prison.

Talk about a tin pot country.

This place is ■■■■■■(specially here in nsw)

Well she wept.

Spare me.

Justice for some

That scale I would have thought would have been up there to 15 years hard time.

But nah. Connected to a Liberal Party powerbroker.

18 months community service and some home detention.

Probably gets to keep his 11.5 million dollar mansion

People have always been ■■■■■■. Nothing to do with albo or anti semitism.

The energy regulator wants the power to turn off peoples solar panels so that the grid is not overloaded during sunny days. Personally I think it is so the power companies can gain back making money during daylight hours when they lose most of it

They already are capping how much power can be returned back to grid in some areas.
So disincentives getting bigger systems.

Or maybe it’s just capping how much they will pay the solar panel owner.

Love a long-term bet, me.
@Houli_Dooli ?
LFG…

What’s the bet wim?

That the first paragraph of that story does not happen to you or me in the next three years.

After that it might be a Liberal government, so nah.

I don’t imagine it will happen in Tassie as generally abundance in energy and less need for air cons due to climate.

Apparently it is already being tested in some places. not verifiable sources though.

I can imagine it being introduced in somewhere like Sydney using the smart meters.

In the next 3 years probably not. But there will be power outages like in Adelaide with the cricket last night when they will try and bring it up as a discussion topic.

Okay.
