The government setting up the task force is a good thing but why did it need to get to that ? A task force because of anti semitism when the community has been asking for nearly a year for leadership on this. The horse has bolted. A task force should never have been necessary.
A 2 state solution is what most Jewish people I know want. I’d love to see 2 states and the war to be over. It’s how you get there that is the contentious point.

There are far more people who do the opposite, ie excuse the actions of a government because of its association with a religion.
At least he’s being upfront that this was, despite all the bluster, never a core promise.

You are confusing government with police. There are hate and anti vilification laws already in place. Unless its any sort of protest whatsoever, that the coalition is saying the government should have cracked down on. besides some grafitti and some very unpleasant protests, and a handful of some whacko areshole nazis mainly in melbourne , what else has happened in Australia that the governement should have done something more urgently about? Im completely missing something here.

So what. That was a pandemic scenario, hundreds of people were dying , where idiots were rioting and delibertately rolling down city streets looking for confrontation with the police. Hard to see the comparison

I dont think Australia is anti sematic. But I do think this particular phase of the Palestine/Israeli conflict has brought out certain trolls. I also think a lot of the Jewish community are feeling the effects of being associated with an unpopular government. Even if that association is not really fair.
Because it’s got out of control. Jewish people their businesses their schools their places of worship are being targeted with hatred and violence. We’ve had first hand experience - my wife is Jewish and was threatened on IG by a Melbourne based Palestinian man twice. It was reported to the Police they did nothing. Nothing. She was pregnant and she was petrified. Why was she threatened? Because she is Jewish. She’s not political she doesn’t overtly say or do political things. She doesn’t push Israeli or Zionist views on anyone.
Here’s another example - just reported a bomb threat against a Melbourne Jewish community centre. Thankfully the Police are stepping up in this case

A War as brutal as this is always going to evoke fear and division , hate and debate. The coaliton are particualrly cashing in on this. Like the voice, they have decided deliberately to go down the road they have and to stoke the fire
