That’s exactly the point. Fletcher and Dutton didn’t have the hotline that Albo had - according to Joe Aston. The allegation is that Albo called Joyce requesting upgrades.
Unsolicited upgrades - no problem
Soliciting upgrades (ie calling Joyce to request upgrades) - not permitted by Ministers
Aston’s assertion that membership of the Chairman’s Lounge was a gift handed out by Joyce at his discretion is a load of twaddle.
I have friends who had access and who have zero dealings with Joyce or Qantas. Their membership came from the status of the office they held.

You keep referencing Aston as though he’s an authority and done extensive investigative journalism. He isn’t and he didn’t. He wrote a book with this being a minor fact in it.
Dutton never needed the hotline to Joyce, he just contacted Gina.

You really have a farking closed mind on this. It is just BS that the Qatari Government has no control over it national airlines, and the disgraceful event where women were degraded cannot just be ignored.
I have travelled on QATAR Airlines many time and they are adequate. Not to Singapore or Emirates standard, but acceptable. But fark them, to expect any special after they farked over those women.
Well bad luck, they are coming in through the back door now and going to own our second biggest airline and in the process stick it right up that useless imbecile King in the process
And FWIW their business product is the best in the sky, their first not so

You mean the one where the company owned by the Liberal party made donations to the liberal party and then were rewarded government travel contracts by the liberal party?

Just an oversight the then Finance Minister hadn’t paid for the family travel he had arranged direct with the then CEO who happened to be a bigwig in the Liberal Party. Hello World went on to get a contract with his Dept.
There was a witch hunt for the company whistleblowers, unauthorised disclosure.

It has always amused me that we look at countries like Thailand where paying “extra fines” directly to the police officer that has clamped your hire car is seen as flagrant corruption, but these huge kickbacks and revolving door board appointments for ministers of relevance are seen as “lobbying”.
I guess the difference is that it’s bad when bribes go to people who use them for food instead of another Mercedes or villa in Tuscany.

Oooh a bit of whataboutism from you @Loflyer. I’m surprised. In all seriousness, I don’t know much about the situation you “what about -ed” However if a former minister or MP has done anything corrupt they should be immediately referred to the NACC and if guilty throw the book at them.

I didn’t bring it up Lawry, just making light of your obsessive posting about this. Go for it and please don’t be dissuaded from your course if it means a lot to you. Reminds me of the Drumgold Sofronoff days when you were relentless in your pursuit.

Totally, my responses to your posts once every few months are unhealthy. Can’t help it, I see a long legged fence sitter and I just go. FWIW I find it grotesque that pollies get perks when they’re generally well enough off to pay like everyone else (except lots of rich and powerful people who get perks too by dint of being rich and powerful of course).
It’s just funny how hard you’re going at it, forgive me for finding mirth in these dark times.
