Australian Policies -- from October 2024

Qatar can eat an entire bag of ■■■■■ and be banned from this country forever.

Having watched Albo’s tremendously bad presser this afternoon he doesn’t actually admit he called Joyce to solicit free upgrades. He alludes to talking to Joyce twice. If he didn’t he could have easily come out and said categorically that he didn’t seek/solicit upgrades directly from Joyce.

If Albo did seek or solicit upgrades he is may have breached the ministerial code of conduct (seeking gifts is prohibited). That’s not an insignificant issue for a bloke that ran for PM on integrity and transparency

Clause 3.18 says:
“Ministers, in their official capacity, may therefore accept customary official gifts, hospitality, tokens of appreciation, and similar formal gestures in accordance with the relevant guidelines, but must not seek or encourage any form of gift in their personal capacity.”

Good lord.

They will own 25% of Virgin in a few months time and can really stick it to Albo and the clowns

Fantastic.

It was just a little digital rape at gunpoint.

But their first class is exquisite.

If I believed in hell, they’d be among the first I’d want sent there, and omfg you will not get me upset about them getting screwed.

■■■■■.

It was excruciating

My advice to you is not to watch political pressers about inessential issues miles out from an election.

Despite being a state owned airline Qatar Airways do run very separately from the Qatari government and it has been stated numerous times that the airline had no knowledge or no control over what occurred. It was absolute terrible what happened but I don’t hold the airline responsible.
And FWIW their First class isn’t great at all, probably the worst of the Big 3

Absolute.
Bullshit.

And how does that make it better?
Who was charged?
Where’s the compensation?

Imagine if that was your wife or daughter.

■■■■…and I mean this very sincerely…them.

They should be banned from this country.
No ifs buts or maybes.

Kinda funny.
Legroom for Albo…scandal.

Rape at gunpoint.
Eh…we’ll let it slide.

Like it or not it’s happening. Their flights are full and many women from Australia choose to fly them. They are going to double their services to Australia and they will be full and they will totally run our second biggest airline and I will enjoy seeing them give that ■■■■■■■ King and Albo a big middle finger

I don’t like it.
And I’m calling anyone who flies with them a terrible human being.

A real country. A proper country.
Would have said, aw hell nah.
Bye.

Was fine for our government to use Qatar when it suited them. When our so called national airline stopped flying during Covid only one airline flew into Australia every single day delivering much needed produce, medical equipment and bringing citizens home. Even now, oh Qantas haven’t got any spare aircraft so let’s get Qatar to pick up Australians in Lebanon and bring them home.
Chalmers and others in government want Qatar to boost flights here so it will eventually happen one way or another

Why are you making this a political thing?
I don’t care who’s in power.
The moment they dragged women off the plane at gunpoint and digitally raped them is the moment they should have been banned from our skies forever.

I’m sorry if you can’t understand that viewpoint.

I can totally understand your point of view but it’s become political because Qatar were blocked by this current government thanks to Joyce’s influence over our politicians.
I’d say exactly the same whoever was in power but it was this current government who has blocked them for now. Thankfully there are always ways to circumvent things and Qatar are up for the fight

Sure.
Fine.
You’ll forgive me for not supporting these underdogs.

Edit: I do think their flights should come with a disclaimer, though.

So given all politicians or at least ministers get upgrades it’s going to be within guidelines.

@Preliminary_Point2 in regards to the Albo situation Joe Aston says Albo sought out and asked for the uogrades from Joyce. Seeking gifts is not permitted under the ministerial guidelines. That’s different to just receiving or accepting upgrades ie unsolicited gifts. If you receive an unsolicited upgrade that’s permitted which is what most politicians do. Albo’s situation is different - Aston says he would call and ask Joyce for upgrades.

In your post above you left off the bit highlighted below from Clsuse 3.18 of the Ministerial Cofebof Conduct.

“Ministers, in their official capacity, may therefore accept customary official gifts, hospitality, tokens of appreciation, and similar formal gestures in accordance with the relevant guidelines, but must not seek or encourage any form of gift in their personal capacity.”

Again, if literally every politicians gets upgrades how is it against policy. Do you think politicians, staffers and bureaucrats don’t have a travel policy? I mean if they have a gifts policy they must have a travel policy, how about you quote that instead.

Paul Fletcher has had 60+ upgrades and Dutton 30+

You seriously want us to believe they magically got offered them, where’s Albanese got his all underhanded.

Please.
