LNP’s biggest vote winner is were not Labor, as people want change.
Anything they try and do stuffs this up as coming out with some pretty bad policy.
I’m really glad the liberals are inspired and motivated by trump . between the liberal party and Clive palmer , I think Australian people are not dumb enough to fall for this nasty, cruel and greedy style of politics .
the ones who gets the most benefit from.the tax system already will love it , Ie, neg gearing , franking credits and people with very large amounts of super .
but the rest of us won’t and shouldn’t fall for this crap
Wait…31% of people surveyed said building more high density housing was the most pressing project?
One in three?
What do you think is the biggest infrastructure need for Victoria right now?
Oh, way more dog boxes. Definitely.
Really?
I think the LNP are likely to win.
But on what issue(s) are they not the government on?
They don’t have to build homes for you or ones you can imagine living in to solve the housing crisis.
See my rants on student accomodation.
I’m well aware of your obsession.
You might be right, but in Australia first term governments don’t get turfed. I think Labor loses some skin but gets to 70 or at worst 69 seats. Labor minority is my bet. The $2.55 odds on offer for a Labor win now are a very good atm if you like a dabble.
well there is nationalised energy sector , the break up or supermarket chains , the breakup of insurance companies . none of which would happen anyway .
aside fro that they just agreed to match a 9 billion spend on top of nuclear , on health care without even knowing the details
Especially for people with no money.
6% in Melbourne and of that 40% is existing student housing from Universities etc.
It is not a Government run enterprise, it is run by Universities and their private student pimps.
Not a Government job. We are a capitalist economy and this is private enterprise.
Only for the homeless.
So you obviously have a similar view and condemnation on Jacinta getting ready to chop thousands of public servant jobs in Victoria? Although she didn’t have a smirk on her face though
There’s 800k student visas holders in Australia.
Are you going to argue they
- Don’t overwhelmingly rent
- Only make up 6% of beds in rentals?
Dont underestimate the stupidity and selfishness of the Australian Voter.
I repeat…. SRL will never be completed. You watch!
No also for young adults trying to move out of home.
hard to get a vacant property they can afford to rent, and when they can, there is lots of competition and if earning less than others unlikely to get it.
Agree. No brainer. I thought it’d be higher than 31%. There will be a rush for building/purchasing of new dwellings in Victoria once we get another interest rate cut or two. Big developers in the state are saying when it turns it’ll be significant all guns blazing on new homes being built. Victorian land prices in new areas are very competitive. This is the sentiment I’ve received directly from large builders and contractors in Victoria.
have details that are not media details been published yet? and is it 36000? what areas are being cut ? federal liberals are just saying they will get rid of all of them without any details . this is doge level bs . people that want to be in government , blaming the government for everything nonsense
More homes, sure.
But good lord, we have More than enough studio apartments that aren’t being filled because they’re garbage.
It’s the high-density part for me.
Hmmmm. Biggest project we need…I think it would have to be more slums.
Let’s build a Fitzroy style high-rise in Glen Waverley. That’s the biggest need.
Lack of housing and immigration are not the whole problems to the housing issues in Australia.
The main problem with housing, is that our way of life has changed post pandemic.
- There’s less share housing.
- There’s greater need for extra bedrooms with work from home requirements.
- Baby boomers and Gen X are getting divorced at high rates.
- Millenials and Gen Z couples aren’t living together.
The share housing market has dropped significantly in major cities.
Doesn’t matter. It’s going to happen and thousands of cuts are likely. How else will Victoria balance its books and address its debt? Increase taxes?!
I’m talking about a focus on new house developments outter west, north and SE. That’s what the contractors and builders I deal with are telling me. People like Stockland who come in and sell large numbers of lots on new suburbs and cleared land.
