Of course it was a stunt. Just like when Fraser and Howard said they were tying the cost of Aussie oil to world oil prices to try and help people be more “environmentally responsible”…it was just a money grab, they cared nothing for the environment.
Poor Gladys.
As Daryl was one of the few Libs in a rural seat and probably no threat to her for leadership, Gladys in any event could have dished out favours to him for the purposes of internal Coalition politics.
Bad choice there .After he resigned in disgrace the Lib vote at the by election almost halved and the Independent McGirr got elected on ALP preferences.
The Coalition lost 6 seats at the last election and governed with a majority of 2 seats in the House.
Three potential by elections in November - Gladys, Constance and Barilaro
Is it odd that almost no one defends Gladys here the way Andrews was defended last year?
And pretty much no one defends Scomo either.
Yet if Gladys were to go to an election, she’d win and Scomo is still a chance to win (I’m farking surprised by that).
Dan hasn’t done anything illegal has he?
Gladys is a crook and deserves whatever comes her way (yes she would still win an election if held today)
Scotty isn’t winning or even a chance of winning, he will be gone next election and hopefully gone for good
Nah people were absolutely defending her, they just cheesed it once it turned out that she was crooked as hell. She also had coloured media backing which Andrews didn’t, so maybe that explains part of it.
I think it was more of a case of people using her to critique Andrews. What I call the ‘NSW do this, so why don’t we do it too’ bullshit rhetoric.
The way the last five or six months have gone shows that the states (NSW, QLD and WA) have vastly different population behaviours and need to be treated differently. A one size fits all doesn’t quite work due to the differences within the state.
We will go to war.
And you will call them potato cakes.
Global City, Gateway to Australia!
As if the rest of the State is of no account.
Could explain why Hunt delayed closing the national border, other than not having any contingency plans for quarantine.
And a grand total of zero findings of voter fraud by the Australian Electoral Commission.
Yuge problem.
Like the Bill to deport non citizens convicted of
family violence.
- ALP opposes it, ergo supports family violence.
Or, you know, thinks we should stop being selfish and dumping our problems on the rest of the world.
It’s called individual responsibility.
Decision on funding for the Wagga hospital preceded Hazzard’s time as Health Minister.
Perrottet saying he doesn’t do pork barreling but who could take issue with improving regional hospital facilities.
Well the Wagga facilities are top notch now
Proposals for an upgrade had a long gestation.
There were competing priorities in the Budget, including for other regional health facilities.
The issue before ICAC is why it was moved up the list for that particular budget, prior to a by election.
IDK whether the $140 allocation for Wagga lead to the displacement of proposals for facilities that might have had more urgency elsewhere.
There is also the issue of taxes raised to fund a proposal that had not been factored into the budget. Currently, there is concern at the raising of tolls and the extent that costs for work will eat into the paypacket.
Perrottet would know that as Treasurer at the time - relevant to his claim that he is not a pork barreller - distancing himself from Gladys , who said that’s what politicians do.
As someone who has had various family members go through Wagga hospital for critical procedures I’m just happy they got the required upgrades regardless of how it happened. The place was a real mess not that long ago
Or, you know, thinks we should stop being selfish and dumping our problems on the rest of the world.

try saying that at a refugee rally.

haven’t you learnt yet this board is very left/labour leaning, of course dan does no wrong, i mean he’s a labour man, so he’d never do anything wrong or make a wrong or bad call, just doesn’t happen in that party.
Bit early to be on the ■■■■, dkp.
