But she will immediately abandon all his former colleagues who testified against his conduct while on duty.
As I have said before, if he is found guilty I will support his condemnation, because it is an abhorrent thing he is accused of doing and brings all servicemen and women into disrepute, including myself. However, let’s not get the noose ready just yet. He is “expected” to be charged with five offences, that does not mean he is guilty. That is for a trial to decide. At this point in time he is still innocent until proven guilty, and the standard of evidence required in a criminal trial is far higher than a civil case.
to disclaimer your disclaimer, he lost his defamation case to a truth defense.
No surprise here. I gather everyone’s favourite PM Tony has made similar comments.
Colour me unfuckingsuprised
Equally, just because he has not yet been found guilty does not mean he is not a sadistic piece of ■■■■ who celebrates and performs the killing of innocent people.
Would there would be other offenders who have been missed in the sweep. After all shocking crimes are committed in war.
Sorry, what about my post led you to think that I was expressing any personal opinion about the personality of the man? He could be a rapist, murderer and steal candy from children or he could donate millions to charity and help disabled people cross the street. I don’t care. What I care about is that the evidence is presented and a decision of guilty or not guilty is reached. I believe that until that decision is made in a criminal court of law, then he is innocent until PROVEN guilty. That has not yet occurred, even if he has lost a defemation case to a truth defense in a civil case as @barnz stated.
Absolutely nothing, my guy.
My post was 100% an attack on him, and 0% on you.
Sorry for misreading your post.
Oh I understand, I’m normally a massive ■■■■, so the odds were in your favour.
Abbott throwing in his support for Robert’s Smith.
Why do conservatives typically support war criminals and pedophiles?
Freud had a lot to say about the counter-intuitive protection of self identity.
To be fair the overwhelming number of ADF folk I’ve dealt with are in support of him too.
How steadfast that support is if he is found guilty will be interesting
That is because heinous activities are considered normal in war type situations
There would be an element of truth to this Ace. A very large percentage of the military is right wing in their outlook, but this is a function of that mindset being attracted to the military far more than tree hugging peaceniks on the left. I do think that the vast majority would have the same opinion as I do, let the man have his day in court and if he is found guilty so be it. Until then as I have said before, he is innocent until proven guilty. This is not so much supporting him, as ensuring we get it right., because it is important that we do. If he is guilty, he needs to be punished to the full extent of the law.
Most of the current and former ADF are not political at all. They generally hold views as you would expect from their training and experience, especially when it comes to anything military or concerning Veterans, which is their right and what I would expect.
As you say this bloke is innocent until proven guilty and the bile and nonsense dished out by many on BBlitz illustrates how farked in the mind some are. I suspect the court case will not be in Melbourne, which is a pity as I would be happy to serve on a jury and view all the evidence to then reach a position of guilt or not.
most of the evidence used against him in civil trials were people that has served with him . I think the lack of forensic evidence or even other witnesses won’t amount to much if the same soldiers who served with him present again . you would imagine that’s a given otherwise they could have problema even charging him
because they don’t consider the victims to be humans
