Ben Rutten - Back to the grindstone (Part 2)

I don’t understand the team he brings each week every member on blitz could dish up, no game day changes also.

Is he really a coach at all? I’m not talking just this year but in any year does he have any attributes that contribute him be able to coach.

We NEVER land a big fish!!

Agree

We did have Salmon at the club. He was pretty big.

Although he was a catch and release.

Full contact session at training 48 hours before you play, well done Rutten well done!

Hes out ideas, hes finished at Essendon.

GORN

Appears that way.

Either that or he has stopped pandering to players and management and is taking matters into his own hands.

It wasn’t that much different to a normal session. The session was actually a bit shorter probably given the extra intensity.

I hope this is the case.
If he wants the players to be ruthless then he needs to be ruthless on the track
No more cuddles, no more mucking around.
Train the way you play.
Save the cuddles and mucking around for after training or when finishing off a grueling session with goal kicking game or something.

Edit: and yes you can smile during a ruthless session, especially if you or your teammates nail a tackle, smother, Shepard or whatever else they are working on

He should have done that in beginning!

Yep. We need a thruster. Somebody who’d happily send 10,000 young men to their death. Somebody revive Richard Haking!

Over the top men!

Good idea, Let’s go after Max Gorn.

Agree, but I think he drank the X and club bath water of expectation and process and it will just happen.

He now realised his job in the line and will start demanding performance - I hope.

It is extremely perplexing how the closeness of the group and their seeming synergy on field has gone backwards over the offseason. Where has the “love you too” spirit gone? :love_you_gesture:

X likes to think he’s the Big Dog around the club, he doesn’t want Clarko or Lyon undermining him and telling him to get back in his box.

Better of doing early in the week than 48 hours out of game day, all sorts could have gone wrong and I hope it’s not a close game as we will run out of puff as we are unfit already

X is the type of employee that would go off on workers comp for being spoken to too directly by someone like Clako

Rutten had to teach Dusty Martin. Trust me he would had to have dumbed it down to primary school level. Lids, Chaplin had to explain it to him even after that

Certain players of ours want to do their own thing. Reading between the lines with McGraths comments etc there is a generational divide between the older and younger blokes. Seems the younger guys are over certain older players doing whatever they want and not following the structure
