Oh, and this started the Invasion Day March and is pretty f’ing good
Played a gig with those guys once.
They ■■■■■■■ hate that song.
Silverchair frogstomp
Hoodoo Gurus anyone?
We are blessed with some great music in this country.
An interesting story about this song, I was in a town in the NT called Kalkarindgi 5 yrs ago, 800 kms south of Darwin, the same place where Gough Whitlam handed the first Aboringnal land back to Vincent Lingiari
I went to the local “bar” that night which was packed I was one of only 3 white people in it and had to listen to Rap and Hip Hop all night both painful and dreary. I wandered over to the juke box and saw this song and half ■■■■■■ decided to put it on, thought i would get no reaction or maybe a negative one.
I got a reaction all right, completely changed the vibe in the place. I watched four girls , if they were 18 it was only just not only dance their assaes off but know all the words, as did most of the rest of the bar, I was astounded.
I probably should have known better, they are wonderfull people in Kalk , 95% indigenous and every last man, women and child barracks for Essendon, I ■■■■ you not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNA4ELdkYCo
I had a bad feeling this would turn into a INXS/Hoodoo Gurus/Midnight Oil thread, anyone got something that wouldn’t turn up in every online countdown ever?
This is something recent, not an Aussie song but an Aussie performance. Incredible. Ping @wimmera1
