Biscuit Banter

Wagon wheels are a solid C grade biscuit.

Any big biscuit inside goss on the said mix of bikkies in the high tea selection?

Discontinuing Arnotts Family Assortment will either mean offices stop buying the godforsaken things and so the office biscuit jar is no longer forever full of stale Arrowroot biscuits, or they will swap to store brand equivalents that are even worse!

And in my family we will need to find something else to put into chocolate hedgehog (since my Grandmother stopped being able to buy a pound of mixed broken biscuits at the grocer, she changed to a full pack of family assorted for the family recipe).

Haven’t read through the thread but the Coles branded choc chip biscuits are pretty good, the chocolate coated choc chip biscuits are even better. For $3.50 and $4.50 respectively you can’t go wrong.

I dont rate either as elite. Main fact is, they aren’t ‘moreish’. If there was a pack of Mint Slices or wagon wheels on the table at work, I would have 1 or 2 and be content.

Choc chip biscuits have that moreish factor where you could go 4 or 5 easy.

And I didnt say I dont like Mint slices. I just just think they are overrated.

Not bad…a lot less filler.

My locals a coles (and a crap one at that). Haven’t seen em yet.

I’ll buy em on spesh as usual

Best:- as an ex-employee of Arnott’s biscuits let me say that the Scotch Finger Biscuit, as it comes out of the oven and still hot on the production line is the bees knees of biscuits, they literally melt in your mouth, but obviously only a few of us have ever had the pleasure
Worst:- just about anything made overseas that come in bulk tins
Underrated:- Aldi melting moments
Overrated :- Oreo’s

About ten years ago we did a project with Arnotts Product Development in Sydney. I was only supposed to be there for the first day, but those biscuits straight out of production were so bloody good that I stayed all week.

Also years before had same experience with Four’n Twenty pies and dim sims from Chien Wah in Melbourne

Is there no love for the good old Squashed Fly spicy fruit roll?

NO.

The mashed fly pie? Sure. Traditional dessert for us…with custard.

Aldi Arrowroot craps all over Arnotts Arrowroot.

Good dunker in a cuppa.

The Aldi one actually feels like and tastes like a biscuit, whilst the Arnott’s one is thin and tastes like cardboard. And Teddy Bears are not a shade of their former self - dry, hard and tasteless.

Really enjoyed some (at times more than some) good shortbreads this festive season.
