As someone who works within a company who has a retail arm of the business, this could not be further from the truth.
Just about everyone now runs this as their biggest sale of the year.
Sure there are some companies who do some dodgy stuff like jack a price of something up then act as if the 30-50% off is insane but regardless in terms of the actual price itself you likely won’t find items cheaper than this Black Friday sales period. It has essentially diluted and taken over Boxing Day sales.

Black Friday sales are a way to get consumers to buy the stuff they can’t get rid of. Anything good is not on sale.

There’s a component of that in any sale but nah, there’s plenty of companies who only sell limited/streamlined SKU’s all year round and don’t carry much rubbish stock who still make this their biggest % off/best price sale all year.
I haven’t seen it with golf equipment or bikes.
Giant has a reasonable sale(bicycle if thats what you mean)

If you have kids, RACV offering members half price movie tickets and food packages for Village and Hoyts. Very handy on the brink of school holidays.

Except for the fact that they only have XL size frames on their lower end bikes.
Black Friday is everything wrong with society etc.
However, pretty sure specifically golf and bike companies don’t put their items on sale because they know full well that anyone who likes golf and bikes is stupid enough to pay full price.
