Jeff you are ■■■■■■■ blind as a bat
Umpires having a crap day out and deliberately cheating to affect Essendon's performance are two very different things. This board seems to think the world is against us so naturally it must be the latter.
Those who suggest that a shared disposition to treat someone or a group in a biased fashion equals a conspiracy theory has no farking clue about human behaviour. Wake up.
You don't need a formal conspiracy when you know what's in the best interests of your boss.So tell me how did it go. Did Vlad have a coffee with the umpiring boss and suggest ' mate do what ever to make sure essendon doesn't make it'. Hmmm right.....I agree with this. It's what I think us happening. The AFL does not want us to play finals this year, but they can't throw us out for poor governance. So they are relying totally on ASADA for to keep us out. Given that is likely to drag on for some years with appeals, they have to make sure we don't make the eight by some other means. It'll be near impossible for us to beat the top echelon of teams this year, even if we are in A1 form. I think it is fairly obviously that Essendon doing well in the next couple of years would be seen as gravely embarrassing by/to AFL House.
Either the AFL have instructed (perhaps indirectly) the umpires to apply the nth letter of every rule against EFC, but to give liberal interpretations when it is EFC's turn to receive, or the umps are doing it subconsciously because of all the ASADA junk.
People who don't even follow AFL who I was watching with tonight were questioning if silent, wallowing me was not noticing the patent bias against EFC. I am not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but this just seems to fit the narrative so well, it seems the most logical. There were hints of it at times last year, but it is far more obvious now, probably even more blatant up in Brisbane last week.
We would still have lost tonight, but we weren't 9 goals worse than that Swans team. I am definitely not claiming an excuse for the loss - we were quite appalling in the first quarter - and I am hardly reputed as an umpire blamer, but this is becoming a bigger issue for me than merely winning and losing... it is killing the game and team I love. They have smashed us off the field, and are now getting us ON the field as well.
Given our recent history though, I expect nothing more from the club than to roll over and keep letting everyone have a free (no pun intended) shot at us. Sometimes I feel like I am starting to hate this game...
Hence the umpiring. I don't usually blame umpires either, I think if you play in front you will get the calls, but tonight I was in shock. We were fairly awful at times, but the umpires were worse. And I don't think it would be anything as direct as a direction, I think it has been "suggested" that the "better team" get the calls sort of thing.
And even the commentators on fox were dreadful in their after match reporting of the Hurley incident. Just woeful, almost as though they too are on the payroll.
This is where it gets better. The umpiring boss calls in all his dumb umpires and says ' boys be a harsh as possible on Essendon'. Where ever possible make sure they lose.
RIGHTO
GET A GRIP AS IF....
No way know that happens in today's day and age.
It was just bad umpiring!! The game has turn to poo! It's all about how the umpire see it and reacts.
PS anyone who booed/jeered the injured umpire is a dickbrain and no better than anyone who booed Jobe last year.
proud to be a dickbrain too
Since when are umpires held in the same regard as deities?
Many politicians are corrupt. As are many police. As are corporate directors, lawyers, tradespeople, public servants, etc.
What makes these pissants so immune to suggestions of bias?

don't think anyone is actually suggesting there is a deliberate plot to screw essendon over, but fark me last night was terrible
Lots of frustrated fans and rightfully so
I'm with Jeff. There were some shockers, but we were ordinary.
If I was a completely rational person I'd say we did ourselves and the team no favours by booing last night, the media will pump it up and the umps will take it personally ( I know that's hard to believe given their level of professionalism)
However, with that out of the way, given that we are accusing them of either being incompetent or cheating, maybe the situation last night will be the catalyst for some fair umpiring for the rest of the season, given that all eyes will be focused on the umpiring in our games....maybe, or, we wont win another free kick in our forward half for the rest of eternity.

That is exactly right. And anyone who doesn't think conspiracy doesn't exist in sport is dreaming. Remember the Australian basketball team in the 80's or 90's when the only way they could not make the Olympic finals was if one team beat another by 7 points. Guess what. I remember thinking it was bad luck until years later it came out that the match was manufactured to the get the result they wanted.
We counted 5-7 goals to sydney which were a direct result of free kicks or 50s which should not have been paid. Add to that the HTBs against dempsey and jerrett and the hurley non-free kick.
We would’ve lost anyway I believe but after quarter time we were not a 9goal worse side than sydney. In fact we played our best footy since the first quarter of ANZAC day after qtr time.
To those who have a problem with the booing, just stop and ask yourself why would they do it? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
There was a significant amount of Sydney fans at the game & they were making noise as well so any suggestion that the booing is somehow only representative of Essendon fans is nonsense.
Did I go too far when I yelled "I hope your ambulance gets banked" :D

Booing does not in any way affect the condition of the umpire. He did not get anyway worse because people booed. I got worse though by his decision making.
Secondly why do people clap an injured person off the field.? Is it because they are injured? Is it because they are leaving? Why it is considered acceptable to applaud an injured person?
Serious question
Was Buddy driving Malceski?
Probably not. Buddy stops after a collision.
Well done to the ESSENDON doctors and physios who went to the umps aid. Well done to SYDNEY player who flattened an ump and ran away, the SYDNEY doctors who didn’t respond, and the SYDNEY portion of the crowd who booed.

He may not have been any worse off because of the booing but they're still people and the AFL has pumped up their tyres so that they now think we pay money to watch them umpire.
Clapping players from the field in my opinion is a mark of respect for giving everything, including their well being, for our enjoyment, it's still only a game.
we may of booed him! but at least we didnt ■■■■ and spit on him like certain black &white supporters would of
Umpires were pretty bad. But they didn’t cost us the game. Sydney were just too good. And we were much improved in my opinion to the last few weeks.
Threatening umpires or believing in conspiracies against us is retarded.

Well anyone who would boo a bloke injured just doing his job is a pretty ■■■■■■■ weak individual in my book.
And anyone who would take it even further is just a limp dicked pissant.
LOL fark me this thread is ridiculous.
We played like retards, just as we have for the majority of the year. Except this time we played like retards against a quality team that reamed us.
Free Kicks

Conspiracy theories and veiled threats at umpires. Bunch of neanderthals
KG Cunnigham has said:
As an umpire you can influence a game, change momentum and give a side an advantage. The side you disadvantage will always end up with more free kicks as you "square" the ledger. It depends on where the free kicks are paid and which free kicks you don't pay.
Sydney are a better side, but when you get an armchair ride and gifted goals it destroys a teams momentum and confidence. It was disgraceful umpiring performance.
