The butterfly is a big clue that it’s Papillon. Steve McQueen played him a treat in the 1973 movie.

Apparently it has now sold 13 million copies worldwide!

Spot on and well played.

I’m steering away from fiction for a while.

I’ll start 1984 shortly, and follow it with Brave New World.

Disclosure: I used to own a copy of the book with that photo on the back cover.

Thanks for that. Big W, who usually deliver new releases to my door for $20 are asking $33 and can get stuffed. I’ll wait until it turns up at a reasonable price.

I see that Dervla McTiernan also has a new one coming out at the end of April.

Both Target and KMart in Warrnambool are getting more and more tardy and more and more selective in their book selections, and there’s much more chance that it’s just US tripe.

Maybe I should consider BigW more even though the closest is in Geelong (I think).

Aren’t they all on Kindle?

I have a lending group.

I would suppose so, but I’ve never used one. Much prefer physical media.

I buy on Kindle any books that none of my circle read.

I find the Kindle app very clunky for searching and buying.

I don’t. Piece of ■■■■.

Just finished Louise Milligan’s sequel to Pheasants Nest, Shellybanks.

Kate Delaney is recovering from her trauma of her abduction and being left for dead under the bridge at Pheasants Nest, on the Hume south of Sydney, and has gone to the Greek Islands with her boyfriend, Liam. They’re planning to go on to Dublin to the wedding of her aunt Dolores.

When in Dublin, they discover from Dolores that she’d been treated as a slave and sexually abused, Magdalen Sisters- style.

Horrifying stories about the excesses committed elements in the Catholic Church, at least up to the 70s.

Just brilliant. An amazing follow up to Way of Kings. Loving the characters and the storylines. The worldbuilding and magical elements are fantastic. The ending was quite hectic and leads in well to Oathbringer which I picked up today. Sanderson doesn’t do things in half measures - WOR 1200 pages and Oathbringer 1400. Epic in every sense, indeed.

Right after that “Idiocracy” documentary?

It’s so good. The action scenes are visceral and the characters are so interesting. Need to get the Great Leveller trilogy and then the second Trilogy but KESH is required.

also reading Uketsu and ■■■■ it’s good.

Yes, this is on my radar as well. Possibly sooner, rather than later.

Finished “Twelve Months” last night…the latest book in The Dresden Files (Jim Butcher).

Quickest I’ve read a book in ages…everytime I put it down, I picked it up within 15-20 minutes.

Most enjoyable read I’ve had in ages.

I really like the world that the author has built here, and how the main character continues to grow and develop in each book.

A great series if you’re in to the fantasy genre.
