Brad Scott - #Bradball and bust (Part 5)

Easily.

most of them in most other sides top dozen too.

Brisbane is absolutely ridiculous.

Wait til you then throw up their ages.

The comps in a lot of trouble

Having “young talent” in and of itself means nothing. And many seem to through away 23 to 27 year olds as if they won’t play much longer.

Geelong for example have a 25 year old Smith and a 23 year old Holmes for the next 7 years.

Greg Swan mentioned this morning how having Hodge was essential to building the lions young players. He said Harris Andrews still refers to Hodge and how he was an on field coach that enforced their defensive structures when they were young. Pendlebury would be ideal if we could somehow get him across for a year, then into the coaching panel.

Brisbane has a 21 year old with two norm smith medals.

And his younger brother who is more highly rated and has to bide his time in a pocket.

Not to mention a young under 22 kid holding down CHB and was unlucky to not get BOG in a final too.

They are absolutely killing it.

Bit of both is how I saw it. They barely let us touch the ball in the first half and we were pathetically weak; hence the 10 goals to one scoreline at half time. After half time we did up the pressure, and they did ease up (which I agree is uncharacteristic) – but not to the point where they let us get anywhere near challenging them.

Remember when we finished last and Brisbane we’re right there with us in second last, extraordinary the difference in circumstances.

Then again I can remember cellar dwelling with Freo, Hawthorne, Adelaide and GC in the last 10 years and look at us now.

Appointing Hird would be an absolutely classic “silver bullet” Essendon special solution. Appointing Hinkley would be appointing another “tried and true” experienced coach, just like Brad Scott. Except older.

Yep. Must must MUST appoint a young, hungry assistant from a successful club/system. James Kelly would be my pick but there are lots of others.

I was thinking that myself. In fact I was dreaming that next season we might have a smart, new young coach from a successful background, plus a few new top draft picks including a couple of big, solid, skilful and intelligent key position players, plus say Steele Sidebottom and possibly Scott Pendlebury on one or two year contracts to show our guys how it’s done.

As I said, it was a dream.

Because Fages is such a spring chicken for Brisbane?

I don’t think it matters. Just got to build a list again.

This was the bottom 5 from 2021

Tom Stewart would be a another good fit for that role. we have so many problems with our senior guys I wouldnt be against finding that type of player for each line of the ground.

I dont think Brad is the type to do that from a good club. (yes i know he did it with goldy but I am not sure it was the right culture to come from) but if we brought in a new coach I would be more than happy for him to spend some dollars bring in three of those types and turf some more of our senior players.

I think the f difference is that the top teams now are young.

And in Brisbanes case young and with a heap of finals experience.

If your a bottom 4 club you would give anything to have either the Suns or the Lions list of kids.

Its a better collection of talent than West Coast, North or anyone else has.

To be Brisbane good you need to get to the finals, play in a bunch - then add 4 or more absolute elite draft talents to your list.

Ashcrofts, Annable, Fletcher, Coleman etc.

Helps when you get gifted more talent than any other club

McLuggae and Bailey yes.

The others not so much.
Morris would be ice to Pair with Caddy.
And Lohmann would strengthen our small forward stocks.

You are cooked. Morris is light years ahead of caddy and Lohmann would be better then the majority of our list

Yeah, there is good reason that Tassie are supposedly offering him amazing money

Paddy Voss had a quiet one tonight but it’s staggering he won our VFL best and fairest but couldn’t get a game in the firsts. Couldn’t get a game in our ■■■■ side but now he is playing in a good team every week. Good on ya Brad. What I heard is Voss was a bit of a party boy and Brad didn’t play him because he doesn’t like that type. So what is your type Brad? Vanilla players that only run one way. Well at least you have a type lol.

There’s always a different side to every story.

I do like Vossy though and I think western Australia likes him too.

I think they just gave him a 3 year contract.
