Brad Scott - #Bradball and bust (Part 5)

They will get moved on.

Makes it hard when no clubs are interested we cant force other clubs to take our trash would you take any of our seniors player if you were an opposition coach?

The questions that should be asked of Brad and our other coaches should be about development and what is happening in the development space. We basically have access to the same player pool as everybody else but too many that we select are not developing as they should. Ask the coaches what is being done to address this issue as everything else is insignificant!

Hard way it is

what about 3 for Merrett. We should have let him go

Only one first rounder the other was a second round pick

You just don’t get it!

It’s not about how many you cut it’s who you cut.

You can cut 20 per year and the results could still be the same when you keep the same group of senior hacks who have let club down year after year and get rewarded with extensions.

These are the guys that need to be cut

No one wants our dud senior players we are stuck with them

Because we gave them stupid extensions. We have had the chance to get rid of them but the club WANTS to hold on to them.

Ridley had 3 years to run but no our idiots give him another 3 years

McGrath 6 year deal

Redman 5 year extension

Parish 5 year extension which was later was found to have a secret year added so now a 6 year extension

Merrett we could have let go last year

We had the chance to let any of those go but instead we are stuck with them so don’t give me any of this “oh no one wants them” rubbish

Just self inflicted pain by the club who had to be dragged kicking and screaming to start a rebuild

This would be my ideal set up if Brad goes. Ken Hinkley’s history at Port would be highly relevant to our current treadmill of mediocrity we can’t get off. What he did there was quite amazing.

It’s a small sample size but what King has done at Melbourne is free up players to use their skills. They look so confident - much like the hawks last year. Would love this style of coaching at Essendon - because right now our defense is poor (as it has been forever) but our attack is also poor - at least this used to be ok.

If this is the case, why sack Scott this year?

That would mean a new coach has to push through two years of bottom of the ladder years too. Fans will be looking to sack the next coach by that time :upside_down_face:

I’m not saying you keep him btw, just highlighting the challenges of long term rebuilds in every respect.

Very to easy to say in hindsight.

Redman,Parish,Ridley had outstanding seasons can see why the club wanted to lock them away they were our best players.

McGrath I agree with

it wasn’t made with the right intentions, it was made with the ego’s of yet another wealthy board members who wanted to stamp their own ego’s on the club.

I didn’t rate rutten, but who knows in time what or if he could have been anything. 2 years into a plan, sheedy, barham and the rest of them went on a crusade to undermine ruttens tenure and did a great job of it.

Barham had to lie and con sheedy to get the numbers, that he’d parachute his man hird back into the role, they then went out and head hunted a ■■■■ coach, who even north fans laughed their ass’s off at us for getting him , north fans let that sink it.

nothing about scott and the process behind how he got the role was done with the right intentions FOR THE CLUB, it was selfish wankers who continually get into positions of power at this club, and use it as their personal play toy instead of ■■■■■■■ off and leaving it to either fix itself or die.

I like this from King, I have a bit of theory that the best coaches have a bit of wit and humor to relate to players but need to be able be firm as well. I dont think old brad has any form of charisma

King would get criticized on here for using a movie reference if he was coaching us

Thats like saying why didnt Melbourne just keep Goodwin until they came good?. the point of bringing the new coach in for the rebuild is to build the side they want with the traits that are part of their gameplan.
For us we have a coach with no gameplan or at very best a serevely outdated style and who has accepted the effort from the players and tied himself to them

Longmire has a servilely outdated game plan too and people want him

His final game as coach was an AFL Grand Final in 2024.

Jones and Scott too. It’s set us back 6 more years

But fans would just whinge about him, so we can’t get him as coach.

Doesn’t matter Dean Cox come in and changed the way they play to suit the modern game.

With less stoppages and teams playing more attacking footy Longmires style wouldn’t work.

if he were to coach again he has to change his style to how the game is played now
