yeah I would absolutely hate to be competing for flags and playing deep into the finals 11 years out of 14
If heās still so good why did the Swans let him go?
John Longmire made 5 Grand Finals across 14 seasons. There was a gap of six years between the third and fourth appearance.
Now, unless nothing changed between 2016 and 2022, there seems to be some evidence that John Longmire is capable of adapting game styles.
They didnāt. He retired.
What I heard about Brad at the AFL when he worked there is that he just sat behind his desk the whole time with his door shut sucking his coffee through TimTams while deligating all his work to everyone else. I wish he would do the same here to someone that has a clue.
Maybe but I think we need a young coach from a successful club one that will grow together with the young list
Longmire would make a good director of coaching or be on the bench like Goodwin
Itās the one great thing Eddie did at Collingwood, and look at them now.
Iād take Longmire in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I donāt think he would want to take on our shitshow.
They didnt you Nut, he quit and is still involved with there development programs
Welsh āHi John this Andrew Welsh president of Essendon footy club would like to know if you have any interest in applying for the senior coaching job?ā
John hangs up the phone
Like Rutten who got us to finals in his first year and then the players decided to down tools in year 2?
Well yeah in saying that I think Rutten wasnāt ready to be senior coach he was thrust into the stupid succession plan all because the Crows were potently looking at him to be their senior coach
Oh well, no point asking then.
Just stick with the guy weāve got now.
Not true. If any coach can show some semblance of improvement all over the ground (or even part of the ground), they are worth sticking with. To date, Scott has shown absolutely no signs of improvement anywhere and itās time for him to go. The experiment failed.
Kinda like Adam Yze?
Oh, but heād get chewed up and spat out.
Apparently.
Not at all we do a proper process and find the next Kingsley,Yze etc no more ex coaches
So you donāt want a young coach from a successful club at all.
You want an old coach thatās been assistant of successful clubs for 20 years
I agree in large part.
My somewhat cynical view however if we could sack Scott this year, appoint the dream coach and proceed to finish bottom four each of the next 3 years as would be suggested as were commencing a long rebuild. The dream coach would lead a team that subsequently plays doggy football for 3 years which would mean fans would want to sack him too!
Fans arenāt patient.
Well, we can both agree on that.
Iād like a new, young, up-and-coming coach who has paid his dues in multiple assistant roles, with an experienced senior assistant / director of football by his side.
tbh Iāll be happy with either as long itās an untried coach
Hmmm. I will believe that when I see it.
Bottom four teams are subject to ugly losses, broken football and difficult times. The new coach would be under great scrutiny too in his second, let alone third challenging year.
