That was a good listen. Who was the player we moved to half back at 3QT on Anzac Day when Laverde went down?

Setterfield, I think.

We didn’t lose that game because on an injury to Laverde or a positional change. We lost that game because our players are mentally weak. It happened the previous time also.

Enter Ben Robbins.

Hopefully with him at the club we no longer see mentally weak players

Yeah, It’s good the club acknowledged that there was an issue and at least are trying to fix it.

How I translate this: ā€œHe can’t kickā€

You managed to hold back the cynicism for a good 3 minutes there @Clone_Hirdy

You’re absolutely right. I thought at the time we only needed the one goal in the last to hold on. Despite never looking like we would get close, Drapes got a free kick deep in our forward line against the run of play. ā€œHere we go, this is itā€. Nope. A bad miss that proved our one and only opportunity in an entire quarter of football

Quality thread title!

Just enough error in it to annoy the pedants, and yet also go unnoticed by those who skim read.

yep and it mucked up our midfield balance and we got smashed at the content. i think they then changed it. i can’t remember what the change was but we’d lost all control by that point.

Absolutely, we played nearly 3 quarters with that positional change.

All down to our mental fragility and Collingwoods self-belief that they could come back and knowing that we would ā– ā– ā– ā–  ourselves easily.

i don’t think so but i recall is a little foggy. IIRC lav got hurt second quarter but then came back on before pulling the plug at 3/4 time and setterfield moved back early in the last IIRC

Would have won if Merret was playing missed him when the Pies were making the come back.

There was also menzie’s snap shot miss too.

Nah, we can’t rely on just Merrett to win the game.

True he was a big out tho last player we needed suspended by the corrupt AFL

In the last qtr Weideman hit the post on the run and Menzie completely bottled one - he had more time.

Jones hitting the post year before = disorganised mess.

Still cant get over the Jones miss how the fck you miss from there and don’t forget the terrible defense on the kick out.

Pies alble to move the ball the length of the ground with not one Essendon player touching the ball which allowed Elliot to kick the winner.

Ben Ruttens papers as coach where stamped that game
