Brad Scott - time for probing the probematic spelling (Part 2)

Ie, he texted his brother to suss out who was bringing the meat and who was bringing the drinks to the post game family shindig

So no tick for process then. I hope he shares notes with Andy first to see what percentage out of 100 we are going to be giving process…

Yep, lets just keep sacking coaches when the one constant for the last 20 years of ■■■■ at the club stays there.

Lets keep doing that, works a treat

“We don’t want our players just to be happy they’re on the list, we want them to be VERY HAPPY “

Recall this…the player had just been whacked in the head and had to come off. Perhaps he simply at that moment, wasn’t in the right space.

60 players get drafted every year out of thousands of hopefuls. That’s the top 1% or whatever. The talent bandwidth is honestly more or less the same at every club. Sure, a dozen or so players are just so good that they represent 1% of the 1%

It’s not the list, or the talent.

It’s far less tangible issues. Leadership, drive, culture, hunger, anger, fear. And yes, coaching.

McCrae has done an undoubtedly brilliant job with Collingwood-17th to premiers in 2 seasons. But to be honest he has the likes of Moore, Pendlebury, Steelbottom and others demanding excellence. At Geelong it was Selwood, Dangerfield, Hawkins etc.

We have no spine…and while Zach is your classic ‘professional’ he’s no James Hird or Terry Daniher.

The thing that irks me about this damned practice match is all summer we’ve been hearing how finally the players sense there is a genuine competition for places in the team.

Haha! What a crock. These players are entitled, selfish and have zero spine.

Remember when we lost the 99 preliminary final. Who remembers our next game, a preseason cup game. You might want to watch Jason Johnson ironing out any opponent who came near him. The whole team was breathing fire after the humiliation of the Carlton 1 point loss.

Fast forward to 2024 and our precious playing list, apparently disgusted by their performances late in 23 come out and deliver that garbage.

260 odd points is now the running total of our losing margin over three games.

Pathetic and anyone who says it’s just a practice match, well I hope you’re right but the last 20 years suggests otherwise.

Did brad’s north teams lose in pre season games? I’m hoping they did, to give me some hope.

Belted the Kangas in the Ansett Cup final we meant buisness

Sheedy made the players watch the GF in person and then sent them on a boot camp

Bottom 4 side on that effort yesterday

Don’t care what type of match it is

You play footy to win, just like other clubs have done in their scratch matches.

We need a genuine superstar in the midfield and over 185cm

We need a genuine goal crumber superstar also.

Back 6 will be ok.

Even if the instruction yesterday was to just go out and have a run around and now get injured (which I highly highly doubt), what the ■■■■ was the game plan?

Over 12 months now under Brad and I have literally no idea what his system is.

Well there’s one good thing. We saw the Saints gameplan, on their terms. There won’t be too many surprises about their plans when we play them proper.

Exactly, and if Scott can’t fix these issues and put proper standards in place at the club. He will deserve the sack just as much as the previous coaches

He effectively wasted the majority of last year in terms of development playing the older guys over the youth. He made a big song and dance about players living the AFL lifestyle…Then didn’t make big list changes at the end of the year. He has gone the softly softly approach with the group, which is the exact opposite of what this squad of players needs

If we have a poor year, he will be hanging on to his job by his fingernails come seasons end

My concerns over yesterdays debacle were not related to midfield or defence but our lily livered forward line.
No marking strength
No leading up the field
No running into space
very poor tackling pressure and man on man pressure
I could go on but it seems that our forward zoning allows the opposition to have several yards of breathing space, allowing them time to hit a target further up the ground…
Not convinced either that Wright being in will change much as he will get double teamed

Yup treading lightly around the players

Playing spuds over youth

Not turning up to family day or first practice match

All smells of horse ■■■■

your not Annabel Hardwick are you?

Caddy we need him playing, creates space and leads all-day, tells you how much Jones and Weed are spuds and reliance on Wright

He would have been a great coach for us!!!

Coaches like he plays tough

I am actually glad for yesterday’s result. If we had won, the expectation on this squad would have been totally over the top for the season.

We have a tough first 7 rounds this year. The reality is that our season might be over by ANZAC Day. But if that happens, then so be it. The club is genuinely trying to improve and that means sticking with the coach and slowly improving the squad, rather than torching the joint every 2 years.

And while I am at it, thank Christ we didn’t get Ross Lyon! People are deluded if they think he would have left the club in a better condition than when he arrived.

I think I will restrict myself to the MAFS thread for the next couple of weeks to avoid reading anymore of this hysteria.

We got Worsfold when he had mellowed.

Same with Brad.

I don’t get that same vibe with Scott.
