Nah Kevin Sheedy had the opportunity to coach us for 27 years, it is only fair that at a bare minimum, the legendary coach of Brad Scott, with all his success and accolades as North Melbourne coach for a decade, and him being the absolute tactical genius that he is, gets at least the same.
That’s the respectful thing to do. wE CAn’t kEEp saCkiNg cOacHes!!!
The bigger issue I reckon is the fact that the club and board keep picking a certain type of coach.
Scott has ended up being the epitome of what every coach at this club has done, and it has not worked, so the process even when done supposedly independently, is yielding the same outcome as always.
It’s like a woman who says her type is bad boys, and then continually picks bad boys, then wonders why they treat her the same way.
whether it’s scott, a new coach or the previous coaches, the same issue is that the board and club think that the players they have at their disposal are the ones that can get them success, which is the obvious wrong starting point as they aren’t.
the only thing that saves scott beyond next year, is barham and co’s egos about not wanting to be shown up for the idiots they are, so they will back him in, maybe even extend his tenure to “create stability”, just so they don’t lose their control and power at the club.
The decision has constantly been either backing the players and list management, or backing the coach. Essendon has constantly chosen to back the players.
I’m not sure Rutten rated our list that highly. And rumour has it that Worsfold and Rutten both had falling outs with Dodoro before they left.
Longmire not a rebuild coach he’s a Ross Lyon type coach. At Essendon he won’t have the same access to the elite talent that Swans produce via their academy
I reakon it’s the shame ■■■■ from all supporter bases.
Port fans hate Ken Hinkley. Imagine a coach that got us anywhere near the same results…we’d be frothin’! Actually no we wouldn’t, we’d still be ■■■■■■■■ and moaning about something.
It’s not exclusive to us or Sydney. It’s every club.
Three months ago… plenty of Lion fans wanted Fagan gone.
There’s always a bit of a honeymoon period when coaches take over shambolic clubs and it raises expectations… before reality sets in. There’s no quick fixes in modern footy like there was for clubs in the 70s and 80s.
