Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 3)

I’m well aware how long it will take

I’m just saying, it won’t be a quick rebuild. I don’t want you getting your hopes up.

That’s so Nino.

Always expecting instant success.

Just before the season began I was speaking to an old fella (lions fan) at our local darts comp, he wanted fagan out then and this was a day or 2 before opening round…

He wasn’t the only one either. I wonder how they’re feeling tonight…

What is Brad Scott’s contract? 4 years? So it’s the halfway mark. I feel we need to give him the entire 4 year tenure before making any irrational decisions. Many won’t like that, but stiff ■■■■.

It sure is.

Here’s something that sounds familiar…

Fagan biggest issue is that he doesn’t trust his young players to do meaningful roles in the senior side… impacting their development. He just sees anyone outside of his ‘ideal’ best 16 or so as role players. Unless you are a top 10 pick you may as well just accept you’ll only ever be a role player in Fagan’s eyes. No meaningful minutes in the firsts and if you do you’re just playing a bit part role.
Sure it’s great for first year or second year players but doing this over many years isn’t ideal. Give them more ownership even if for a few games a year against ■■■■ clubs like North or Weagles. It’s how you get the likes of Robertson, Tunstill, Prior, Answerth just stagnating and not improving.

I’ve always posted that I like Fagan as a person manager but I don’t like him as a coach.

I dunno. Unless there are some clear changes to game style/list/selection, a similar fade out in the second half of 2025 and he’ll be on very thin ice.

A third time would suggest he actually isn’t taking this team anywhere but in circles.

Absolutely. And will deserve to be in that scenario.

No extensions or even discussion of an extension until the end of the 2026 season. Let the media speculate all they like.

No doubt the 2025 is the most important in his coaching career… and not dependent on scoreboard results either. It’s the direction the club decides to go in.

Here’s another beauty…

The bit that confuses me is where you try to give someone another string to their bow but never let them actually play to the strengths you drafted them for.

It seems harsh to draft someone say as an inside mid and then play them off the half back in the seconds and then the wing in the seniors followed by a shrug they just didn’t come on…

This one is probably my favourite…
After a tough loss in Anzac Round…

very difficult decision coming up. Sack the man that turned our culture around, or stick with him when there are clear tactical limitations?

Personally, I was concerned when there wasn’t any change in assistants to support Fagan. Dew would have been good. Was regarded for his tactical nous as an assistant at the Swans - I would have started with him.

This year is clearly going to be an uphill battle with injuries to key personnel and a draw that is arguably the most difficult going. I’d do a Geelong. Lose a few games, miss the 8, get guys into surgery early and get a soft draw to set us up for next year…

And another nugget…

Anyone want to say Matthew Lloyd is wrong?

Fages has lost the players; it’s plain as day. They don’t play for him whatsoever and the message is stale.

Time to do everyone a favour and pull out stumps and do the honourable thing. Most smart football observers know Fages is cooked and the only thing I’d like to know is why Fages was so adamant pre season that we wouldn’t fall away like most losing GF do. He basically couldn’t have been more wrong and the fact he literally cant get them up anymore (and don’t give me benign wins over North, Suns, Tigers and the odd out of box win against Melbourne) speaks volumes.

No Brad. Don’t.

There’s no fix for us at all.

I’m calling BS on this

Surely there aren’t enough Lions “fans” to have “plenty” of them in any faction.

It’s not actually going in circles if you are running on the spot, as this season has shown.

Or getting worse, as next year forebodes.

It also doesn’t guarantee success

Wrong time to do it with Tassie coming in.

Pretty depressing reading Swans reddit post GF.

I would’ve been happy to do it 5 years ago

Brad has concept’s of a plan.

I don’t go around and read other clubs fan forums but I wouldn’t be surprised if the same things are said about every coach.
