Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 3)

Big bodied mid 190cm ( Greene )

Small forward gun ( Hill ) as examples

This is what we need

I don’t think our list is very good, but a spud coach can absolutely make a list look worse than what it is. Playing kids out of position, letting them languish in the reserves, repeatedly making them sub, selection integrity etc. Brad Scott is probably the worst coach we’ve had in regards to development.

Massimo made the 22 this year just to underscore my point. If he stayed here Brad would have continued to ruin him.

It’s not controversial?

It’s incredible hey. We’ve improved, but everyone else has.
So we’re still mediocre? So what exactly has improved?

The utter crap that comes out of his mouth sometimes is 10x worse than Woosha and his learnings repetition.

He’s not wrong tho

Sure, i get that. But i mean, I’m just assessing off what i can see now. We drafted a guy who couldn’t kick. Its actually really on brand

He’s quite easily the most under performed guy in that top 10 at the moment. It’d be some miraculous turn around. But, lets hope

Can’t wait to see us raid the North Melbourne talent pool again this year … what a privilege having Brad at the helm.

Who will it be?

A retirement plan for Liam Shiels?
A third club for Jaidyn Stephenson?

Or what about the coaches? Perhaps Xav Clarke or the big Monky??

If it wasn’t for the tactical nous and inside running taken from his time at AFL house, getting to pick at the North carcass would be the #1 Brad perk.

Yep… Massimo would have been kept languishing in the VFL all season.

Brad has his issues.

Selection, playing kids, player guys out of position are all valid criticisms. And they are big.

But he will also can get a team to play a style, play consistently in effort and increase standards, which are all what Essendon needs.

However until we fix recruiting and start drafting and trading for a team capable of making finals let alone winning one, at this point, fixing that and having a hard nosed guy who makes them play to a standard is as rock bottom as we are. I wouldn’t be moving on coaching until we can see the different between a coaching performance and just a ā– ā– ā– ā–  list.

I like Brad as a coach - he has his issues, but i think his trying to move us to the right place.

That said early in the year he said repeatedly that one of the their goals this year was to win the respect of the supporter base and make them proud and respect the team.

I do wish a journo would have the courage to ask him how he feels they’ve gone with that - so all you journos that creep on here - there’s a challenge for you. Be interesting to see his answer - at the half way point would have had a tentative agree that they had that. Now no chance

So if Brad Scott isn’t the answer then who is? An untried assistant? That’s worked wonders for us in the past. The club has a massive cultural problem, we haven’t been some successful club that’s just going through a rebuild. The whole joint has issues which are all well known. That’s not solved in 2 years.

Scott has made selection mistakes, some weeks the game plan hasn’t worked, and yeah he could have played some of the younger guys earlier than he has. But if anyone thinks sacking him will turn things around then I don’t know what to say.

I’m filthy with the way the season has ended but to heap it all on Scott is incredibly short sighted. He needs more time.

So what’s his role then, program seller?

Exactly my thoughts too

Did i miss anyone?

Robbins is highly rated not sure can lump him with jobs for the boys

In 12 months, I think, Longmire at swans is out of contract, dean cox will be his most likely replacement at sydney, rather than eagles. How about an open cheque to one, J. Longmire - to coach essendon for 5 years from 2026?

Spending 4 seasons with St Kilda, and before that 5 years at North Melbourne.

Incredible resume. How could we have ever passed up on that.
