Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 4)

I mean have played in a successful premiership team and can show the way with our current players

Probably the same blokes who voted Merritt out of the leadership team. And Merritt himself has said he’s had to adjust how he communicates.

Hard to really know without being there, but I have said before the club needs to back in Merritt to say what needs to be set, have an uncompromising 2IC next to him, and the rest of the club back him up. If anyone sooks it up they get shown the door.

Exactly what I was about to say under Scott this team can’t keep a positive run of form beyond June and have to capitulate in the second half of the season now we can blame injuries.

But the truth is Brad’s gameplan isn’t fit for the back end of the season this has happened every season under his tenure.

Even with none or very few injuries this team wouldn’t be any higher than 13th

If only your golden boy Worsfold could of changed that in his 5 years at the club

This suggested timeline is the biggest pile of horseshit. We’re not trying to achieve world peace or stop climate change. It’s a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  football club. It’s not that complicated.

It has taken a special breed of idiocy to completely run down a club that was so naturally well-resourced (massive supporter base, very strong finances, history of success). If you look at Brad Scott’s first three years in charge and the litany of bone-headed decisions he has made it seems like he is continuing this trend.

I feel like a really big problem with Scott is that he thinks he’s smarter than everyone else, and it seems like the power base he’s been given means there is no pushback or consequences for his bad decisions.

The guy has just overseen arguably the worst season in the club’s history. He absolutely should be under pressure next year. I’m not calling for us to win the flag, or finish top four, or even make the finals in 2026, but if we don’t see significant improvement on this year then we should have a new coach in 2027.

The first thing a coach needs to do is inspire the players to play with belief. As I stated last year, he downplays the expectations of the team, in comparison to Mitchell who demands better performances.

The list is absolutely an issue, but Scott is equally part of the issue. Watching the game versus the GC, we looked like amateurs. I can honestly say at the age of 18, I was a better kick and mark than what most of our team has displayed this year. I don’t believe that they are all that poorly skilled, I just believe that they have no confidence and are second guessing everything they do.

Scott is not the right person for the job, he is just another Rodney Eade and Terry Wallace type coach.

I think Mitchell would be saying the same about this list, he doesn’t seem like someone who sugar coats the truth.

Mitchell has the list he wants. I don’t think Scott does yet. The difference between the two is Mitchell was given authority to start making cuts from day 1.

By Round 1 next year, the team that takes the field will be his

It will be his 4th season in charge. So he has had 3 pre season and trade periods to shape the list into how he wants it. There is zero excuses for him next season

So who do we get as coach then ?

I struggle with this whole shape the list business, Scott has had huge control and influence since the moment he arrived.

Scott (and Vozzo) were very heavily involved in McKay, Gresham, Dursmaa and goldy for instance.

He is also the most significant factor in why Massimo and Voss are also playing elsewhere.

He has and continues to shape.

What else would you expect from the coach?

Whether you agree with him or not, of course he is involved in shaping the list.

Was more in response to the notion that he hasn’t had enough time to shape the list.

The hands were partly tied and have now been freed. More time is needed to clean the list fully out.

But yes he has had time to change parts of it and he and Vozzo and now with Rosa have. Parts we like and parts we don’t.

The problem is that he always favours the under-performing seniors over the younger players. It has always been an issue for him and continues to be and it is concerning.

in the first 3 years before the injuries he kept rolling out players who underperformed while trying to win a final

The cuts should of started year 1 and make the hard decisions just not cutting fringe players year on year on

The bloke has no idea

Sounds very similar to 2012 and 2013.

He cannot coach.

This year is no different than the others except he has the injury alibi.

Watching his teams play is crap, regardless of who is playing.

Even the BS PR team can now only throw irrelevancies to try and save the plant.

He has to be sacked now, (trying to give this disaster a further year is more than masochism).

If not, the downfall of the club will continue.

I am sure those who manufactured this regime (to keep you know who out) are really enjoying the result.

Next year’s alibi will be that we are rebuilding and the team needs time to gel, nothing surer.

Who?

We need a messiah now more than ever .. because we’re so far back only a man dripped in red and black who knows this club would be right for now as, let’s face it, we’ve become a landing pad for the ā€˜Rent a Coach’ Pty Ltd of the AFL.

You know, coaches like those ex-players who fancy themselves as brilliant game-plan builders and master tacticians. Them .. who see a club, spot a good salary, a passive Board, huge loyal following and know smugly that even if they fail (because they’re not very good tactically really, and don’t energise the playing group at all) they’ll at worst get a payoff and slink away .. likely to their next unsuspecting gig.

Brad Scott is probably a decent bloke. But as a coach of EFC he’s simply and only like a stabiliser bar to a once grand caravan. No skill as a coach AFAIK and can witness, but barely stops us veering off the expressway type.

I only know of one bloke who could walk into Tulla (preferably Windy Hill one day) on a bright sunny November morning, roll his sleeves up, cast around a lost group of players, coaches, staff and trainers and declare with conviction and honesty ..

Let’s get to work fellas.

Because we’ve been away a long time, down for way too long and these long suffering fans of ours deserve a proper football team to cheer.

One of the only reasons I’m holding my membership is to make that vote if the opportunity arises.
