Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 4)

It’s loser talk.

Why would our players feel accountable for their performances when their coach has already provided them an excuse and will never ever drop them?

I have a Pies mate who keeps telling me that he doesn’t get why Essendon fans keep buying the excuses. We are a bunch of gloomers here, but the majority of Essendon fans accept this talk.

He made a point, which I would agree with, that our list is arguably better than Hawks’ player for player. I think Hawks have better balance, but our list isn’t miles behind there’s

Hawks certainly have better ball users across the field.
Ultimately, it’s impossible to assess as they have a game plan which is clearly embraced by the playing group.
This makes a huge difference, and gives all players in the system belief that adhearance to the plan gives them a chance against any opposition.

The sum of all the parts is what matters.

Imagine a hard ass approach to a player like Perkins, he’s been allowed to coast so far in his career, I’d have loved to see the type of player he could be if he wasn’t gifted as much as he’s been gifted.

Now every chance he drops his head and makes the call that it’s all too hard and we lose him early, but that’s heaps better than us gifting him the chance to churn out 200 average games over 10-12 years.

On the flip side, you could create a genuine weapon who wants to win.

Year 2000 what happened since

Would certainly take the edge off for a player, the constant we are not ready talk would leave the players to believe that they arent ready and play accordingly, instead he should be saying we want to give it a red hot crack, this group can achieve anything, we expect to be winning finals, the players hearing this messaging all of a sudden expect more of themselves and their teammates. This is now the expectation and if its not achieved, there will be consequences

So true. It is like the club believes it belongs at 11th, so puts everything into beating bottom 6 clubs and doesn’t turn up against the better teams.

Mitchell spoke so impressively when he got to the Hawks. Was so forward focussed and talked about developing the game style of the future instead of copying others.

Brad is a politician, not a coach. But I would imagine Scott would say he is in a similar position to Worsfold, where is role is bigger than just on field results and is about rebuilding an entire club.

When we inevitably move on from Scott, we must go for a younger hungry coach. Most importantly, we have to accept the bumpy ride and not chase another short term fix when things get difficult

Yep, new coach with fresh ideas and a game style that he thinks will suit the young core of players at his disposal.

Hopefully we strike the next Mitchell, Kingsley, McRae.

Thats how i see it Brad to fix the club ready for the next coach to reap the rewards

Well said.

Yeah, I can’t think of a single coach who got sacked when they failed to achieve high expectations.

How is Kako broken already?

Having no impact, running around like a headless chook.

He’s a first year player and writing him off already

In this team, under this coach, he has no future.

Kako was running good patterns and was looking good when Draper was up forward.
He looks lost with Wright there.
The ordinary delivery into the forward line is also not doing him any favours, as our game plan seems to require our tall forwards to get up around the wings.

Is it due to Draper wanting a long bomb kicked to him and creating a contest, whereas Wright prefers to lead, same with langford, which doesn’t create a contest for Kako. Possibly better to have Caddy play true Full forward. Wright lead up CHF

Might aswell trade every single young player that comes through droor if thats the case
