Unless the next coach can get the team playing like a top 4 side and winning finals in his first year he too would be asking to get sacked coaches dont have a chance at Essendon

We get a new coach and nothing really changes and we end up finishing bottom four in his first year then what?

Given how I predict we’ll be positioned when Brad goes, I doubt our expectations will be that high. It’s usually making finals that pushes the fans’ expectations up to a level that becomes insurmountable, and I highly doubt Brad will reach the dizzy heights set by Rutten, Hird, Bomber and Knights.

Setterfield is a Brad decision. What a shocker.

We got a new coach b Scott and still tried to win A final with a list That was nowhere near Good enough..topped up with 3 list cloggers Amd are now in the same spot 3 years later

It should have been blown up but yet again the board club overestimated the list

Will he play his favs again this year who were sadly out of form or will invest in the future

I hope the later

Don’t think he will doesn’t have many favourites left to pick from he’ll have no choice but to play youngsters

Brad said if you are looking for sugar hits and short cuts I’m not your guy the club must have lied to him

The influence Sheedy and Dodoro had on the club Brad probably did want to go the youth rebuild path from the outset but wasn’t given that opportunity by Sheedy and Dodoro they would have the told the board the list is good enough.

Still think ■■■■ is right Brads hands were tied.

I disagree, a good coach can match day

Select best throw in videoing growth.

Mske calls from the boundary line

He has the Chris Scott attitude without the performance

We had a coach who coached from the boundary in Rutten then everyone complaint that he should go back in the box :person_shrugging:

Brad made a prelim 3,721 days ago when Obama was still President, Tony Abbott had just be disposed of 2 weeks prior, ISIS was at its peak, the first Apple Watch was released, and Adele released her Hello song.

How dare you all doubt this football legend.

Yet his record is still better then Rutten’s. Is Brad the best coach no but he’s the coach for right now is all im saying

If he does get the boot I hope he clips the club and we struggle to get any quality applicants we be left with the likes of Robert Harvey to pick from.

Bomber Thompson said it best Essendon don’t let people from the outside try and change the club try to change them.

Our best result was 2013 under Hird fighting for top spot againts Hawks with a few rounds to go we haven’t got anything close to that since.

How many of those 60 plus wins were against top 8 sides?

We still lost comfortably to the best sides under Rutten. I’m not interested in finishing 5th,6th,7th,8th top 4 or nothing.

What are we up to now, 17 new draftees (w/ Fiorini & Prior) over the past 2 years? Which involved some actual forward-planning to attack the top end of this year’s draft?

Heaps of exp out the door during that time as well (Heppell, Stringer, Kelly, Shiel, Goldy, Draper, Laverde, Hind, etc).

It may not be the more extreme list turnover some are after (and player availability/team selection will ultimately tell the tale) but clearly the strategy has been to bring in more quality youth - which only happens if the senior coach is on board/driving it IMO.
