Brad Scott - yeah, whatever (Part 4)

Evidence of Scott “fixing the club”?

Gets thrown around a lot. What, specifically, has Brad Scott done to fix the club?

Some said he should be sacked if we finish bottom four

I don’t see the club sacking him he will see out his contract. Sack him in 2026 a really good coach might be available in 2027 and we miss out.

What if there isn’t any good coaches available in 2027 or 2028 or 2029?

Do we just keep Brad for the sake of it?

There probably wont be most will end up at Tasmania as senior coach or assistants. if Brad is best available then we keep him

I think we go after Danny Daly he’s next in line to replace Fagan

Observation. Data analysis.

Yes we do.

Nino has conducted a strategic analysis of all assistant coaches across the league and apparently none of them are any good, or won’t be any good until 2027. And if we miss that window, then Brad is our best option.

That’s a lot of words and not a single moment of gratitude to Brad.

There’s plenty of posters who lazily draw a line associating another missed finals pursuit with ‘failure’ and this meaning curtains for Scott.

Don’t know about “plenty”

Could not care less about his win/loss rate as long as there are some visible signs of cohesion and some semblance of a modern day game plan.

I’m not convinced he is on the right track but I’m happy enough to see how this plays out.

Shouldn’t we expect that already three years in??

Pies were a mess under Buckley and showed a starc difference /better game plan in McCraes first year.

That’s how I feel exactly. :+1:

Totally different situations. Collingwood had terrific leaders, recent success, relative stability and a much better culture.

How many get out clauses does Brad have though?

Seems like nothing is ever his fault and every thing is out of his control.

Going by that it has to be assumed that if Brad does turn this around and makes finals then none of it due to him and it’s all down to the club.

May aswell not have a coach at all because they can’t be absolved of all the negatives but claim the positives

Is that the definition of the term “Resultist” ?

I think 2026 is very important for Scott. Get out clauses? I think it’s about method, development, game style and being highly competitive. I think that’s the expectation he needs to meet. If he delivers these things, he survives into 2027. Another draft, more high end talent leading into 2027 where it hopefully wuld be expected that we might start to see more winds as what is hoped to be the makings of a talented side takes shape.

I still think he might not see this period though. I predict he won’t get a new contract beyond 2027, allowing club to secure hopefully a great coach to deliver these finals victories.

That said, I think he will be remembered posthumously as the coach who took on the monumental task of rebuilding a club. A task few I think would be able to execute or secure support within to do it.

How is he trying to fix the club? And how is it the right way?
