Didn’t think I’d get too worked up this year over results considering the circumstances.
I was wrong.
■■■■ WC and ■■■■ those cheating maggots.
You kinda can’t blame the players for dropping their heads when they continually get shafted. Personally I’d rather them get even by going the knuckle bubut that’s just me
We would have been level with them at half time if it wasn’t for the frees disparity IMO
Especially with regards to where we got given them. One was in our backline which was the only one we got all the way until just before the half time break when we finally got another free out on the wing IIRC and the siren went.
The free kicks we got did zilch to help us in field position or as part of a scoring attack. Theirs certainly did though.
10-2 at half time.
18-11 at full time.
It was the first half where we lost touch with them and consequently the game. For majority of the 3rd quarter it was an arm wrestle, then they finally got a few goals and the boys heads dropped as margin too big then.
This happens so often in the West and up in Sydney. It’s blatant cheating, it cannot be anything else.
The soft free to Kennedy in the first half against Hartley for holding with two arms around the stomach and then Brown being blatantly rag dolled twice later on in the game for no result really shat me off, not to mention the Dempsey " too hard" side on perfect tackle penalty.
The AFL are really doing a bang on job of turning fans away from the game if this umpiring farce is allowed to continue.
I’d bet there are many fans of the code that would’ve watched multiple games each week, not just the games that their own teams played in, that are now only watching the one match a weekend because they just can’t bear to watch the atrocious umpiring displays being put on display in each match.
I’m just thankful that we played last night and our game is done for the weekend, as it frees me up now to have an AFL free weekend to enjoy now.
And the media blame the bye rounds for the drop off in attendances at games these past few weeks.
The bye rounds are the least of their problems as to why fans are losing interest in attending matches.
There are more deeper pressing issues as to why this is happening and these guys are in denial about it…farkin’ muppets the lot of them.
I couldn’t watch it towards the end. It’s just too blatantly biased. It’s based on assumptions. The umpires assume the “better” side is going to make “better” decisions and have “better” skills so they umpire accordingly. And it doesn’t matter how well you play, they are going to assume you are the lesser team and pay the decisions accordingly.
Given the amount of money wagered on football perhaps they royal commission should be into umpiring instead of banks.
The Dempsey stuff is legitimately some of the worst, most f**ked stuff I’ve seen. They’re trying to run him out of the game, Jetta style.
Seriously. Cops 4 weeks for the tackle last year while the North guy gets nothing. Then makes a perfectly reasonable tackle last night and gets a free against. What is he actually meant to do? He’s clearly not allowed to touch the opposition, so how can he even play the game.
(As for the different interpretations around blocking, and in ruck contests and holding the ball, etc etc. Given the last 4 years I now believe 100% that it is deliberate corruption)

I’m one of those fans who used to watch most games. Now I watch the Bombers then tune out.
I can’t understand the rules any more. So many grey areas and decisions based on umpires individual interpretations.
The game is dying on me and I find it easier than years ago to change the channels and watch other programs or sports.
I switched over to Rake before the finish. But I did see the Dempsey tackle. If that umpire doesn’t receive counseling and the AFL don’t publicly state that it was the wrong decision then football has officially changed for the worse.
Focusing on the actual footy, Looney getting lame was a major factor in the end blowout. He couldnt get to any bounce /throw in that wasnt directly to him.

You don’t honestly think this is recent phenomenon, do you? We may as well go the full hack and replace the posts with rings and backboards now.
Football hasn’t been the game I grew up loving for 10+ years. It’s been in a downward spiral for a long time. Ruined by the AFL’s boy’s club, the inexorable chasing of the corporate dollar, and constant rule tampering. The saga, and this year in particular, has just been the cherry on an especially foul-tasting cake. I’ve now confronted the harsh reality that my interest in the game is rapidly evaporating.
I’ll carry on buying a membership to support the club, but as far as turning up week in, week out goes, nup sorry… I only get two days’ respite from the cr@p I have to put up from Monday to Friday, and life’s too short to spend those days on something that you’re just not that into anymore and are doing only through habit.

I went fkg bananas about that dempsey free. They are cheating fkg scumbags here. West coast have been getting a free ride here for years. I legit hate them
Here’s a story for yas. On the way out, me and a mate we’re tellin one of the security guards he looked like adam mcphee. He didnt take kindly to it, and we were just having a laugh, not being aggressive in any way. The head of security came over as we were half out the door and yelled at us, i then said “calm down mate” which i was met with a push in the chest followed by a “get out you essendon drug cheat cnt” i kid you not. We then went to go make a complaint, and when he saw us talking to another guard (we were asking where to go to make a complaint) he got the cops called over which we were told “speak again and youll be in handcuffs”
I kid you not, we didnt once abuse anyone, or act intimidating, or try to argue the point
That typifies west coast, subiaco oval. I fkg hate the joint.
