Camping

All this talk of pixie dust, getting some mad 90s flashbacks

Pixie dust is just the same as fairy dust, dragon dust and some other thing they are selling down at the local enchanted forest shop. It's just some brightly coloured sand and glitter in a tiny little glass jar, comes with a tiny pendant, a poem and maybe a scroll if you're lucky!!

It’s all fun and games for the kids…until i go to pay and notice the proprietor is wearing a purple ‘three wolf and moon shirt’ has a dream catcher for an earring and his partner is wearing a pink fairy and mountain shirt. Maybe the magic is real?

I remember camping a few years back. A mate and I were making our way back to camp at night, after going off into the pitch black woods to investigate a weird noise…and we came across this teeny green glowing thingy on the ground. We got real close up to it…like, we were lying on the ground with our faces in the dirt…and this teeny thing …fark I don’t know if it was an alien, a fairy, a piece of phosphorescent mushroom…but it was wild. i tried to pick it up but it kept slipping though my fingers, and my mate was farking laughing at me, so I just grabbed it and everything around it and threw it at his face. it was raining, by the way, so basically, it was a lump of mud I slung at him. He sat up and got me back even though I think he was crying, and then the others ran over, hearing us yelling in the grass, and we all started throwing mud at each other, and I think someone threw up.

Fark that stuff was good that night.

It must have been an alien.

If there was doof doof music in the background…definately a broken glow stick

Reminds me of the time a group of us when to Dwellingup in SW WA to hang out and drop acid. Got there around 5pm on a Friday night. By 9am Saturday morning most of us were asking God if he could make it stop. Then after we ate some poached marron, it was all good again. Never doubted the recuperative powers of marron ever again.

Made damper?

Nah Deck, being cruel is not on, but Foxs & feral cats, rabbits, & feral dogs too of late, are all a ■■■■■■ menace, and are welcome to be dispatched as often as possible, humanely of course.

And fracking cane toads… My nightly cane toad hunting around the dams has been knocking over the large breeders, but the numbers of small toads I see scares me for the future. I have seen a decline in the snakes here on the property, not sure if they are linked, but it wouldn’t surprise me. I would rather have the snakes and no cane toads.

Yes they are linked.

Cane toads’ poison kills predators. They can even kill young salties in the NT.

Made damper?

Yes, the more it rained.

Any animal out there that can kill these feckers without dying?

Yeah, us.

I’m not a fan of some ‘captive breeding programs’ but this one was on catalyst(?) or something.

They were able to train endangered quolls to not eat cane toads, they fed them sausages with cane toad meat and some nauseating drug. Then the ‘toad smart quolls’ won’t attack or eat cane toads. A win for good science.

I saw some dead toads on the Jatbula walk in the top end & was told that some crows had worked out that if you flip them on their backs, it is safe to attack their gizzards & kill them. But that was a 66km walk over 5 days & I did not see one snake or goanna on the whole walk, so crows might a couple of battles, the toads are winning the war.

Ms BSD is into it now … going to make a Pixie dust map to put under her pillow. (Might be a keeper this one)
