I didn’t think Jayco put those roof lifting brackets on. Did you ask them to put them on? I have seen them on other vans but not on a Jayco. I was thinking of getting them installed on my expanda. They help the roof come down straight and like alot of the expandas the wind out awnings eventually pull it to one side while packing up and I need to get up and push the roof to the other side so the roof clamps can line up properly. I replaced the gas struts on the roof and it helped a bit and I even take some slack off the awning when lowering the roof but still not the best. I might replace the roof lifting bars inside the van as well which might bring it down straighter. One of them was bent when I got it. I hope your couch cushions are ok because my wife works at Jayco installing the cushions

The brackets must be a standard thing now because that’s how it came. And tell tour wife the couch cushions have been first class so far. ![]()
Those photos are amazing. We went for a wander yesterday and there is still water dribbling down the sides in parts. It makes me wonder how much is still left up there. We have a cultural walk this morning with a local guide and interpreter.
We’re not coming back that way. We did stop there and check out the rocket park on the way through. It was a bit eerie. There was no wind and nobody else around except for another family doing the same as us.
I’m already amazed at the sheer size of Kata Tjuta in the distance. I had no idea how large it was. TV certainly doesn’t do these things justice.
Thank you. I don’t feel so stupid now.
The rocket park was interesting but we stumbled upon the Heritage Centre and it was truly excellent. Pity it wasn’t advertised more prominently.
Enjoy your travels Klawdy….how far north are you going…we did the loop from Cairns, through Karumba, across to Three Ways, up to Darwin via Nitmiluk, Kakadu and Litchfield then down to the centre (and now in Mildura) & heading for Broken Hill then back up to the Sunshine Coast which is home.
Happy to answer any questions (if I can) if you’re heading that way….don’t forget the Kings Canyon Rim walk
.
Thanks L&P. We are doing all of that. LF on the way to Darwin and Kakadu afterwards. Karumba is also on the list, then to Cobbold Gorge and Undara. Then the Daintree. After that we just slowly come down the East Coast until Newcastle and then scoot home.
Sigh…please use the ‘slow vehicle pullout’ as sign posted…
Sounds great -very similar to us. The Barkly Roadhouse has just opened their new area and is fabulous. The Quamby Hotel just out of Cloncurry has recently been rebuilt and is a good stopover too on the way to Karumba.
There’s been a spate of car thefts - particularly in Mt Isa, 10 in the past few weeks, from caravan parks, (2 the night we were there). Vans were not locked at night and were opened while owners slept and car keys stolen. We had no trouble anywhere, but keep things locked and out of sight always.
Safe travels, have a great time.
Excellent! Right about where we’ll need to pull up.
Wangi Falls the day after someone was rudely chomped by a croc.
Tolmer Falls.
Banyan Tree caravan park at Litchfield. Such a nice spot after having red soil underfoot for 2 weeks.
For @swoodley
Fantastic mate, super jealous. Keep the pics coming and have a great time.
The weather gods are being kind to you. Looks fab.
Since Alice the weather has been perfect. Within 2 days we went from 12 degrees to 30 degrees. Then the kids were whinging about it being too hot. ![]()
We froze on our trip (left Melbourne in May) until we hit Mataranka - then how nice!
And we were in tents but it was 25 years ago and we were much younger.
Are you headed for the west or east coast when you’re finished in the top end?
I hope you had a swim elsewhere in Litchfield. They are all beautiful spots.
Discovery Parks are closing the Glen Helen caravan park down this week, with no reopening date set.
A lot of people will be disappointed about that.
We’re headed east. And yep, swam lots at Florence Falls and a paddle at Buley.
Along with every other person in the district.
Tents would have ended me. I’d be back in Geelong by now.
On the fun side of things. Our fridge turned itself off and was sitting at a nice balmy 10 degrees this morning. We’d just stocked up yesterday too. ![]()
Yeah I suppose they would be twice as busy without Wangi soaking up half the numbers.
I’m over near Mackay after having been in the area you are a few weeks ago. It’s bloody ridiculous how many people are caravanning these days, especially if you’re in the peak period, which of course we are due to the weather. Still worth it, but it must have been quite a different experience pre COVID.
