Just a comment, but I’ve never understood the appeal of sports or GT cars. They’re hard to get into, even harder to get out of, bumpy and you can’t use a tenth of their performance.

Since I was about 20 I’ve preferred comfort. Good handling is a must as well, but most cars now are reasonably nice to drive. I’ll be sticking with SUVs – not the gigantic truck variety, but a nice medium size with good adjustable seats. And I think my next one will have a head-up display. And safety features, particularly warnings, that you can turn off.

That’s why you have 2 cars.

I have one for myself and one for Mrs 10. Neither of them is a Porsche.

I’ll probably replace my RAV4 that I bought during COVID soon. I’m thinking of a near-new current model Tucson. Mechanics think Hyundais are as reliable as Toyotas now, and the Tucson had a new model more recently than the RAV4.

Bought myself a 2006 Honda Accord Euro recently as my first little dip into Japanese car ownership.

K24 engine, 6 speed manual. 162,000km with only 1 owner from new. Really excited to pick this car up and work on it with my 13 year old step son who is growing fond the idea of JDM car scene…

I had one from 2009 to 2013. I just needed a bigger car to move crap down the coast, but not that big to be an absolute wanker.

Excellent.

Regular oil changes in the Hondas - even more frequently than the official service intervals if you can do it yourself - will give you an extremely reliable engine life.

My young bloke just got his license and is eyeing off my Vyii manual commodore, I think. So I might be in the market again soon , myself.

True for a lot.

But it’s the reason why Mx5’s , Swift Sports, Toybaru 86/BRZ’s are so much fun - you can drive them enthusiastically without being three times the speed limit.

Very similar in the motorcycle world imo as well. Less weight + Less Power = More fun is a true equation.

Friend is keen on the new Subaru CrossTrek, looking at an ex demo model, can’t seem to find anything bad about them. Took one for a spin Saturday and seems like a good allrounder.
Any reasons not to purchase ?

Yeah! Very rare gearbox in our market apparently.

I’ve heard they can burn oil more frequently than other vehicles so, it was definitely on my radar already. Appreciate the heads up, though!

I had a VY auto wagon back maybe 10 years ago. I do miss it even though it was an absolute boat of a car… perhaps its why I’ve been drawn to the Euro though… had headlights and bonnet that reminds me of the VY.
