Cars for the people

Meh, if I was gonna buy an SUV it would be a Porsche Macan GTS. They’re cool.

Compared to a Boxster or 911 GTS?

Sure.

Whatever, I’ve got a BMW with a surfboard on the roof. Can’t do that with a Boxster.

People seem to find a way.

What are your thoughts on using premium diesel like Ampol Amplify? Do they assist in anyway or is it a con? I do reasonably long drives, so that issue isn’t a problem.

Just use regular diesel in my Pajero.

I’m extremely sceptical , other than the Alpine blends with the anti waxing additives , that any of these premium diesels offer anything useful. They all have the same sulfur rating requirements and they all have the same burn rate. And really, how could we ever really know if the additives keep injectors etc cleaner or not? Run a car for 300,000 km on one fuel and another car as a reference on another? I might be completely wrong, but I doubt it’s a big deal. Keeping the vehicle serviced and more frequent oil changes than the sometimes insane recommended intervals probably helps more?

My wife has a Suzuki Swift that we’ve used to transport a kayak.

If you haven’t whacked three Billy bookcases in your Jazz at once, you’ve not lived.

Cheers I suspected as much, I was under the illusion that if it burns cleaner, there would be less carbon buildup

I love tiny cars with big roof racks.

I love small cars. They are a dying breed.

The Swift Sport is a great little device.

My wife still has a 2005 Jazz and with the rear seats down it has moved things far larger than anyone would have expected in a car that size

My current Jazz came with roof racks… I was like “no one needs to move THAT much stuff!”

If it was just a few centimetres wider I could place my bike upright in the rear seat well.

Mazda CX3 is, without doubt the most popular car here in Brisbane, they are everywhere, they must proliferate at night somewhere. Teslas are also quite popular.

What you actually need is a Jazz station wagon. Could probably fit the Billys plus the bike.

Oh, it exists!

Yeah, the Shuttle was basically the Jazz with 40 extra centimetres tacked on the back. Not wider, though.

I don’t think it was ever officially imported, but some people went to the effort of bringing them in individually.

I’m not sure that it is. I had a CItroën C5 diesel, beautiful car and beautiful motor, but a particular spec of oil was prescribed by the maker and the Citroën owners’ forum (Aussiefrogs) had a number of members saying that any spec even slightly different would cause big problems. I used the right spec and ran it without a single problem for 10 years.
