Just be a bit careful with USD comparisons. By default Australians buy cars with a lot more tech so models are not easily comparable.

Have had a couple of BMW’s and absolutely fantastic vehicles. Before we went away I was shopping around as we are looking to get a EV and we came to the decision to stick with BMW and buy the BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupe.
Will start seriously looking in to it in the New Year and decide whether to trade my current car in or sell the wife’s car and give her mine if she wants it. It will come down to her choice in the end though, I’m fine with either option

I love the Gran Coupe concept but reckon the new models are very ugly. Super versatile with the hatchback space but I’d love one of the earlier petrol turbo 3 litre models; IMO way better looking and a straight six RWD monster is on my bucket list. This one is on my shortlist: 2017 BMW 4 Series 440i F36 LCI Auto

Certainly is. Luxury car tax doesn’t help, especially since it was introduced to support the local car manufacturing industry, which is now gone!

So-called Auto-Pilot comes as standard now, and I got Enhanced Autopilot for an extra $5,100 which gives you these extras
- Navigate on Autopilot
- Auto Lane Change
- Autopark
- Summon
- Smart Summon
Have not tried any of them yet. I have enough trouble driving a car when I sit in the drivers seat; doing on my iPhone seems a world away.

Looking at these EVs in the market I’d think I’d want a ~80kw/h plus battery.
Anything less seems to be a city car only. Which might be fine, but it’s hard to stomach spending a lot of hard earned on a city car

Our car is getting old and we only run one at the moment because it’s not practical or necessary for 2.
So I’d still want one car that’s fairly large comfortable and utilitarian I think. But yes probably doesn’t need gigantic range.
I don’t travel locally very often, nor very far so I figured it would be easier long term to just hire the vehicle I need when I need it.

OS reviews all conclude the i4 M40 is a significantly more balanced and better EV than the M50. Maybe worth a look.
Saw one of these the other day in Osaka - g’day @mrjez . If this is not the coolest little van I’ve ever seen it’s a pity it’s tiny 600cc motor is only good for 70 km per hour max
