Is he the one that went off to live in Monaco and made a fortune in business?
Yep, was also our ICC rep for many years.
Enjoyed a wonderful life
Agree mate.
I used to have a coffee with him in South Yarra twice a week for years. We did all sorts of things together, along with another mate of mine. He introduced himself to me at The Olsen as a Woolies trolley guy! He wanted me (people) to appreciate him for being a person, not some star⦠I know nothing about BB and I think thatās why we got on so well together, he could just chill and talk whatever. I never wanted anything from him or asked anything of him ever.
I got him involved with Essendon. I was a coterie member so was able to use my contacts to get him involved. He loved it. Heād go by himself to watch the Bombers using my High Mark seats as Iām in QLD. Heād go on SEN and talk about me and my mate and Essendon⦠It was funny and embarrassing, it was his way of showing appreciation and thanks back to me. He loved the Bombers.
He would greet me always with a huge bear hug. āYo Dave, whatās goin on?!ā⦠That huge smile.
As you say, heād always help out anyone. Heād do lots of things in community nobody knew about, giving back. He genuinely lived being around average people.
I miss him enormously but have great memories of my guy!
I think he was working for Elliott in Monaco.
He was at one point. Or with Elliottrather than for him.
Robert Walls
Farkcarlton notwithstanding, I didnāt mind his commentating and newspaper articles.
Premiership player and coach amongst other accolades.
Glad the laws are there to assist in what would have otherwise been an unpleasant ending.
Wasnāt a fan of the bloke but he is truly a great of the game
Had a chat with him once, was very pleasant & engaging. Laughed about whole Essendon & FC Carlton thing.
Feel like I have to watch that clash that he and Kevin Sheedy had on air on Talking Footy now
The ONLY pundit who backed Melbourne to win the 2000 GF.
Vale Robert Walls.
And FARK CARLTON
I loved his commentary around James Hird in 2004 round 3
RIP Wallsy
I was only thinking about you a few days ago wondering whatās happening with you
Sad news
Thought he was very knowledgeable football wise, straight to the point no bullshit kind of guy.
Ironically his last footballing work may have actually been with us on the selection panel for Scott.
I didnāt like him but when you look at the career, pretty impressive stuff and grateful for the laws that allowed him to choose his time.
Some of his better work thats often overlooked is helping turn the bears around and get them going in a decent direction
Strempel disagrees.
lot of people didnāt like him here and i knew him and thought differently but itās a humane way to go methinks
Given the advice I received from my mother regarding the appropriate level of verbosity in situations where the content of that verbiage may be less than complimentary, I have no comment at this time regarding the newly acquired existential status of R. Walls.
