The Bob Welch era of Fleetwood Mac doesn’t get the credit it deserves. That period produced a strong run of albums that often gets overlooked – Future Games, Bare Trees, Mystery to Me and Penguin – all gems.

Personally I was a fan of the Lil’ Wayne era of Fleetwood.

Maybe unfamiliar to most here, but independent journalist John Martinkus passed last weekend. Covered major conflicts in our region and Iraq, Afghanistan over the last 30 years. Some would say he did well to make it to 56, but it’s still too young. Old school journalist who was great for a beer and a yarn, and had more than his share of struggles. RIP mate:

Blancmange are largely forgotten (and didn’t have much chart success here in Oz), but they had a couple of decent early 80’s synth pop tunes (Living On The Ceiling and Waves).

Very sad news. One of my favourites- started with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting and Barefoot in the Park many years ago.

There was a guy who used to host a show that’d show an episode every week of a well known 50s or 60s series, luke The Fugitive, or Maverick or The Saint (with Roger Moore) or whatever.
One night they showed an episode of The Untouchables where a young uni student was brewing up rotgut which ended up blinding the drinkers. The student was played by Robert Redford, well before The Sting and Butch Cassidy.

Some big icons are leaving us lately. He feels like one of those last remaining guys who kind of remained constant through so many different eras of Hollywood.

Terribly sad news about Redfofd’s passing. An absolute icon of Hollywood and a massive supporter of independent cinema. One of my absolute favourites. RIP
